Lion-O, Panthro and Snarf are in the Feliner headed toward New Thundera. Their destination? The dreaded caverns of cold for they heard from Eggbert that there may be some of the Treasure of Thundera there. Snarf is nervous about the journey and the unknown dangers in the ultra-cold caverns, but they don their protective suits and head out.
All this does not go unnoticed by Mumm-ra, who whips up some freezon crystals in his cauldron - jewels that are so cold, they'll deep freeze anyone or anything that touches them. Furthermore, he laced the crystals with Thundercat nip - you read that right  It is guaranteed to draw them irresistably to the crystals. He sends Ma-Mutt to deliver the crystals to the cavern.
Meanwhile, back on Third Earth, the Lunataks are in Skytomb huffing away at workout machines. No, they're not suddenly fitness aware. Luna has them breaking a sweat in the hopes their efforts on the machines will give Skytomb's engines the boost they need to help them get to New Thundera. But it's no use - the Lunies just can't muster enough power.
Suddenly, Luna decides a better idea would be to have the Thundercats do the hard work for them. Of particular interest is Cheetara due to her super-speed. They corner her in the forest where Chilla puts her on ice.
Back at the Carverns, Lion-O and Panthro get a wiff of the cat nip on the crystals Ma-Mutt just left behind, and like zombies they take off to find them. Snarf, of course, is unaffected - he's only a Thundercat when convenient I guess! Lion-O refers to the crystals as the "treasure", but before he can grab the crystals the Sword sends out its warning growl. That seems to snap him out of his trance, but it's too late. He's apparently too close to the crystals and is frozen solid before he can even use Second Sight. As soon as Panthro and Snarf rush to Lion-O's aid and touch him, they're frozen as well.
At Skytomb, Cheetara is thawed out and ordered to run at top speed on a treadmill. She resists until Alluro convinces her otherwise with his powers of persuation. Tygra and the Kittens are tipped off as to what happened by a panicked Berbil who saw Cheetara's capture. So, off they go to Dark Side for a rescue. They get inside Skytomb, which seems to be deserted with the exception of finding strands of Cheetara's hair. Just when they're about to decide to go back to the Lair and regroup, they're captured. Alluro soon convinces them to get to work and get those engines fired up. It works, and Skytomb is airborn.
In the Caverns, Mumm-Ra has come to survey his prize. He also takes the Sword of Omens and once again gives it to Ma-Mutt to play with. He's too busy gloating about universal domination to notice Snarf's tail isn't frozen. He uses it to grab the sword from a nearby and dozing Ma-Mutt, and puts it in Lion-O's frozen hand. This causes Lion-O to wake up, burst from the ice and use the Sword to free his friends and escape.
The others get out of their Skytomb gym prison by overloading the generators powering the engines by working out too vigorously. Skytomb crash lands and is reduced to rubble back on Dark Side, but the Cats make it out unscathed. When Lion-O's crew returns to Third Earth, they share their story and vice versa with the others. Lion-O wonders how Snarf's tail managed to defrost and he gladly explains he was prepared enough to wear a tail mitten his Aunt Esmerelda knitted. Mumm-Ra, thwarted by a snarven aunt's knitting prowess. Ho boy.
Canon Facts of Note:
It is revealed in this episode that Eggbert is Snarf's cousin. Oh, he has an Aunt Esmerelda too.
Yep, there apparently is cat nip for Thundercats.
