The Episodes - BrieflyThundera is dying and the noble Thunderians flee to a ship, led by the aged Jaga. During the journey, they're attacked by Mutants and Jaga must brief them on their destiny as Thundercats and introduce them to the concept of clothes, special weaponry and the like. The one destined to be Lord is still a lad, but he's shown the Sword of Omens anyway. The attack leaves the ship damaged and they must complete their journey in suspension capsules that'll stave off the aging process - all that is, but Jaga. He dies en route and the Thundercats land on a little planet called Third Earth. Lion-O, due to some quirk of fate, emerges from his capsule grown physically but not mentally. He and his friends fight off the Mutants who followed them and must learn how to survive on their new world. Lion-O takes on the task of acting Lord of the Thundercats while still a child in mind. Back to top The Thundercats try to salvage what they can from their wrecked ship and scope out a good spot to build their new home. Meanwhile the Mutants meet Third Earth's own evil menace - Mumm-Ra, everliving source of evil. They form an "unholy alliance" against the Thundercats under the common goal of gaining the Eye of Thundera for themselves. Although, they all try and fail to wrest the Eye from the youthful Thundercat Lord. Back to top The Thundercats form their own alliance with the Robear Berbils, friendly and cuddly mechanical bears who are into agriculture and thus can supply the Cats with endless food. Mumm-Ra does not like the prospect of this and tries to interfere but fails. The berbils are so grateful for the Thundercats coming to their rescue, they agree to help them build their home, the Cats' Lair. Back to top The Thunderkittens discover the Mutants have made slaves of the Brutemen, whom they use to build their own fortress - the menacing Castle Plun-Darr. When the elder 'Cats are informed of this, they come to the Brutemen's rescue. Lion-O learns more lessons about what it takes to be a leader, as well. Back to top Mumm-Ra takes the guise of a Thunderian refugee, Pumm-Ra, and "saves" Cheetara from a Mutant trap. He is a guest at Cats Lair and gains the Thundercats trust quickly - too quickly. He soon sabotages the Lair and takes the Sword of Omens for himself. But is shocked to learn the Eye will not work for evil. Lion-O learns to let people earn their trust and not to be so hasty as things aren't always as they seem. Back to top The pirate crew known as the Berzerkers, and led by Hammerhand, is out terrorizing unicorns. Snarf and Lion-O step in to help and meet the Unicorn Keepers. After quite an adventure, they save the herd and earn new friends in the Unicorn Forest. Back to top In their quest to find deposits of their power source, Thundrillium, the Thundercats explore more of their adopted world and meet yet more of the natives, including the Amazonian-like Warrior Maidens. They also run into some trouble and challenges, but Tygra gets in the tightest spot as he wanders into the Cave of Time and starts to age rapidly. Cheetara, who can out-run the cave's effects, saves him and, with the Warrior Maidens' help, restore Tygra to his youthful age at the Geyser of Life. Back to top Kit and Kat are out making a map of the countryside when they come upon an old tower and get more than they bargained for. Kat is trapped inside, and Lion-O comes to help out his worried sister. Soon, those two are in the tower, dodging traps and tricks to try to get to Kat. They eventually reach him and discover the tower belonged to the long-dead and greedy Baron Carnor. They must fight animated gargoyles at the tower's top - with the help of the other 'Cats - before their adventure concludes. Back to top Tygra stars in this episode, which stood as a cautionary tale about addiction. While underground exploring the source of troublesome earth tremors, Tygra discovers the exotic Garden of Delights and its denizen, Silky (who is Mumm-Ra in disguise). He's talked into taking a bit of a special fruit and seems to get high from it. Soon, he craves the fruit so badly, he's willing to do anything - including stealing the Sword of Omens for Mumm-Ra. Mumm-Ra, even though he gains the Sword, still can't wrestle the Eye's power into compliance with evil, so he finds someone to whom the Sword will respond. That someone is Willa, the Warrior Maiden. At first, it looks like the dopey Tygra and Sword empowered Willa will defeat the Thundercats, but Willa wises up to who's on the better side and gives the Sword back to Lion-O just in time. Back to top Lion-O and Snarf are wandering about when Lion-O accidently sets free three criminals from their holding tank. Mandora, the Control officer who was to transport the criminals, isn't pleased with Lion-O for his mistake but he offers to help her recapture the escapees which is what the episode centers around. He ends up earning her respect, and the Thundercats again make a new ally. Back to top Two Bolkins mistakenly release the spirit of an ex-Thundercat, Grune the Destroyer, from his tomb. Once exiled from Thundera, he terrorized Third Earther's centuries ago and is now free to do it again. And this time, he takes specific joy in harrassing the Thundercats given he has an ancient beef with their former leader, Jaga. In the end, Lion-O figures out it's Jaga that Grune wants to fight and the two spirits have it out in a fantastic astral plane battle. Jaga finally triumphs and all is well again. Back to top Mumm-Ra plots to free Tashi, the beautiful and evil temptress, from her time warp prison. She has a power called the Doomgaze, and Mumm-Ra finds this useful. The Thundercats, aware that something is afoot, try to stop him but Lion-O falls victim to the Doomgaze. Luckily, the trick only works on males so Cheetara is able to thwart the plot to free Tashi just in time. Back to top A meteorite falls the Third Earth and the Thundercats have detected it's rich in Thundrillium, their fuel source. So Lion-O sets out to fetch it, though it landed in some snowy and unexplored territory. Along the way, he meets Snowman of Hook Mountain and after saving his life, befriends him. Mumm-Ra and the Mutants defeated, the Thundercats come out with yet another ally and more fuel for their home and vehicles. Episode most noted for the late introduction of the Mutant, Vultureman. Back to top The Mutants, tired of embarrassing defeats, go to Mumm-Ra to ask that their spaceship be raised from the Sinking Sands so that they can retrieve more sophisticated weapons and vehicles. Mumm-Ra grants their request and the Mutant have a fun time messing with the 'Cats. But of course, are defeated again anyway. Back to top Lion-O is homesick for Thundera, so Jaga's spirit tells him they had brought with them a time capsule that holds the history of Thundera, but it was lost when their ship crashed on Third Earth. Lion-O gets his friends to help him search for it, which means more of their adopted planet is explored. Eventually, Lion-O locates the capsule in a cave but must arm wrestle the cave's resident caveman to win it back. He wins, and the capsule is returned to the Lair. Back to top Tygra is out investigating fires that have erupted in the Warrior Maidens' forest and learns the Mutants have been testing a flame throwing device. So he and Willa venture to Castle Plun-Darr to find out what's going on. Tygra, however, is captured. Meanwhile, Lion-O worries that Tygra is gone too long and goes off to find him. He meets up with Willa who informs Lion-O that Tygra disappeared in the moat to the castle. The two scale the castle wall and save Tygra from the four-winds quartering device just in time. Then Tygra completes his mission by destroying the Mutant's fireball maker while the others escape. Back to top Mumm-Ra, in yet another disguise, manages to trick Tygra and Lion-O into attacking one another with their weapons. The result for Lion-O and the Sword are that the sword's blade is broken and the Eye, useless. Jaga appears to admonish Lion-O for his foolishness and tells the lad the Sword can only be fixed in the heat of star fire. As luck would have it, there was such a star trapped inside a nearby vulcano, so Lion-O risked his life trying to reach it. Meanwhile, the other 'Cats try to enlist the help of the Inflamer. After reviving him wiht hot, melted gold, the Inflamer does re-forge the Sword but won't give it back. They have to fight him to get it back and rescue Lion-O, but all is well in the end. This episode is the one that gives the idea that Tygra would be next in line for Lord of the Thundercats should something happen to Lion-O. Back to top Mumm-Ra uses a mold to make a Panthro clone, giving him the destructive soul of Hammerhand, and sends the Driller to kidnap the real Panthro. The fake goes about terrorizing the countryside while the real one struggles to escape the Bottomless Chasm. The real one is rescued and dazed, but stands accused of all the destruction. While trying to sort things out, the fake shows up and the two duke it out. Lion-O steps in, and with the help of the Sword to determine the real from the fake, the fake is sent packing. Back to top While out exploring, the Thunderkittens free a scythe-carrying goat-like creature called Mongor, who feeds on fear. Mongor goes on to defeat each Thundercat one by one, and with each victory grows bigger an more powerful. The Kittens return to his crypt and learn the secret to defeating him, which is to not look upon him, and tell Lion-O just in time to save the day. Back to top Returning to the Time Capsule storyline, Lion-O is up late on watch and wondering about Thundera again. So he activates the capsule. But this time, it has a weird effect and pulls him into a time traveling journey across time and space - back to Thundera the day before it dies. While he's in the time warp taking in his home planet first hand, the others on Third Earth must face the Mutants' terrible new robot - the Warbot. It's literally tearing the Lair apart. Meanwhile, Lion-O meets up with his old pet, Kano, and his aged, blind father. His father gives him some plans the Mutants were after - for a war machine - before Lion-O returns to Third Earth. The plans were for the Warbot and showed Lion-O the machine's weakness. He arrives and bests the beast just in time. Back to top A little fellow named Dr. Dometone takes his mechanical frog to the ocean's surface to enlist the help of the Thundercats in guarding the Great Oceanic Plug from the dreaded Scrape. If the plug is removed, all the ocean's waters will drain which will devastate Third Earth. Of course, the Thundercats help and eventually, the day is saved. Back to top The Sword shows Lion-O a vision of his mentor, Jaga, trapped in the astral world by someone named Nemex. Lion-O feels he must help, but doesn't know how to cross to the Astral plane. He finds out that only the Netherwitch can send him on his way, but once again, Mumm-Ra steps in disguised as the witch to ensure Lion-O's trip is one-way. But, Lion-O's first concern is Jaga and he journeys into the strange astral world to free him. He also frees an old wizard named Brodo as well. As luck would have it, Brodo has enough magic to send Lion-O back to Third Earth, where he arrives in time to thwart the Mutant assault on Cats Lair. Back to top The Thundertank breaks down near the Berbil Village, and Lion-O is drawn to investigate the beautiful singing coming from that direction. The singing comes from the beautiful but rare Arietta bird and the Berbils count on its arrival and song to help their Berbil fruit crops flourish. Suddenly, a sleigh swoops out of the sky and an occupant grabs the bird. The Berbils explain the sleigh belongs to the selfish Queen Tatara of the Crystal Kingdom. Incensed, Lion-O grabs onto the sleigh and takes a ride to the Crystal Kingdom to free the bird. In the meantime, Panthro and Snarf set off to follow him in the repaired Thundertank. They arrive in time for Snarf to use the bird to free Lion-O from the Queen's crystal encasement - his punishment for seeing her treasures that are only for her pleasure. Once free, Lion-O sets the bird loose and brings down the kingdom with the help of the Sword. Back to top Intergalactic big game hunter Safari Joe comes to Third Earth for the biggest challenge of his hunting career - the hunt and capture of the Thundercats. He even has a hologram that displays each 'Cat's strengths and weaknesses. That knowledge combined with good old fashioned ambush tactics provides Joe with great success. That is, until it comes time to hunt the last Thundercat - the Lord himself, Lion-O. His projector won't analyzed the Eye of Thundera, plus Lion-O is tipped off by Jaga as to what is going on. However, Lion-O faces Joe unarmed, but lures the hunter into Cats Lair, where it's a more dangerous hunt. Once unarmed, Joe turns out to be little more than a bully and a coward. Back to top Snarf returns to an empty Lair and soon learns from the Unicorn Keepers that Lion-O and the others have been successfully trapped by Mumm-Ra and are imprisoned in the Pyramid. It's up to Snarf to use his talents to save them. Once such talent is an ability to communicate across species, so Snarf gets some of his friends in nature to help with the task. And thanks to Mumm-Ra's underestimating the seventh Thundercat, the Thundercats are once more free. Back to top An alien ship that is crashing to Third Earth manages to trigger Cheetara's sixth sense, so much so that it incapacitates the female Thundercat. Soon, both the Thundercats and the Mutants are in a race to reach the crashed ship, which landed near Hook Mountain, for Cheetara's sake. The Mutants get there first and take the part of the ship that seemed to be the "brains" of the ship, leaving the shell behind. The Thundercats arrive and take that part back to repair it, while a few of them split off to go to Castle Plundarr to get the rest of it. They run into trouble, and all seems grim until the others arrive - with Cheetara. She is commanding the repaired shell of the ship using her sense, and it defeats the Mutants. Once they get both parts of the ship back home to the Lair, it is repaired and the ship is on its way. As a result, Cheetara is back to her old self again. Not only does this ep give Cheetara her famous sixth sense, but the ending hints at a canon pairing of Cheetara/Lion-O. Back to top Mumm-Ra summons Hachiman, an honorable samurai, and convinces him Lion-O is evil and must be defeated. Hachiman wields his own powerful sword called the Thundercutter. Eventually, Lion-O and Hachiman meet up at the four day drop, a deep pit on the way to the Warrior Maiden village where Lion-O was heading with Nayda. At first, the pair fight over who is to give way on the narrow log that is over the drop, and nearly fall into it. If it wasn't for Nayda, they would still be falling down it. Then, Hachiman learns the man he'd just argued with is Lion-O, the one he must destroy. So the two are about to fight again but their swords won't react, apparently sensing both parties are forces of good. Hachiman realizes Mumm-Ra lied and becomes friends with the two. Furthermore, they catch Slithe and take him to the Treetop Kingdom to be held prisoner. Mumm-Ra doesn't like these developments, so he sends a Ninja warrior to free Slithe and try to harm Nayda. But, after Nayda saves herself, Hachiman takes care of the Ninja. He leaves without waiting around for thanks, leaving his new friends to marvel at the man's strange sense of honor and pride. Back to top A morphing mechanical wonder called the Wolfrat is invented by Vultureman, and Mumm-Ra adds the touch of shrinking gas to the critter's weaponry. It works its way into Cats Lair undetected thanks to its morphing techniques, and exposes all the 'Cats to the gas. The 'Cats shrink and are now pretty vulnerable. Snarf was the only one not around, so when he returns, the does what he can to help. The Thundercats build him an armor so he can fight the Wolfrat, which they hope buys them enough time for Tygra to whip up an antidote to the shrink gas in his lab. He does eventually get the antidote, and the 'Cats are restored to full size in time to fight the Mutants who had infiltrated the Lair. Back to top Ratar-O and his Ratstar spaceship make the scene here, and he travels to the Planet of Snarfs (where the snarven survivors of Thundera congregated)to kidnap a relative of Snarf's - a nephew by the name of Snarfer. The Mutants don't much like bossy Ratar-O but can't pass up the chance to use Snarfer as bait to lay a trap for the Thundercats. In the meantime, the Thundercats are building a flying vessel called the Feliner, but need a megacondensor to manage space flight. Then, Snarfer is set loose, is reunited with the Thundercats, but is soon recaptured by the Mutants. This draws the 'Cats into the trap, and soon the Thundertank is up against the mighty Ratstar. Back to top Lion-O has defeated the Ratstar, and the Mutants tow it back to Castle Plun-darr. Snarf comes up with the idea of taking the megacondensor from the Ratstar to finish the Feliner. Panthro loves the idea, so they go to Castle Plun-Darr to fetch it. But Mumm-Ra has overheard their plan and arrives to take the condensor before they can get there. Furthermore, Ratar-O and his two powerful sais must be dealt with as well. Eventually, Snarfer is rescued and the megacondensor is recovered. With that, the Feliner is ready to go and their first flight is to take Snarfer home. At first, Snarf wants to go to the Planet of the Snarfs as well to be among the survivors of his own kind. But, at the last minute, he just can't leave Lion-O, and stays on Third Earth. Yes, here is where we learned Snarf's real name is Osbert. Back to top Mandora gets herself captured while trying to apprehend Captain Cracker - a mechanical pirate of sorts - on board his ship, the Jolly Roger. She sends her electrocharger to fetch Lion-O, for Cracker's plan is to free all the convicts on the Grey Prison Planet. Lion-O arrives there in time to save Mandora, but then gets captured himself. He's flown out in space aboard the Roger and made to "walk the plank" before Cracker reaches his next place to wreack havoc - Third Earth. Mandora catches Lion-O as he falls through space and they speed to warn the others and capture Cracker. Back to top Mumm-Ra once again summons the Driller to help him carry out a plot against the Thundercats. This time, the Driller is to make a hole from acid lake and tunnel to the base of Cats Lair, where Mumm-Ra hopes the acid will eat away the Thundercats' fortress. To prevent this, the 'Cats learn they must fetch a slab of sponge fog, the only substance on Third Earth that can block and neutralize the acid. The quest for the fog turns out to be another adventure through the strange Third Earth countryside, but eventually the 'Cats prevail. Back to top Wizz-Ra, ancient Egyptian enemy of Mumm-Ra, has been wrongly exiled to another dimension - only to emerge once every 7,000 years for one day. His portal back to Third Earth happens to be the mirror in Cheetara's bedroom. But Mumm-Ra has an interest in seeing his old enemy back around - he wants Wizz-Ra's enchanted golden helmet which grants the wearer the power to control minds. He successfully gains the helmet, and when the Thundercats go to try to help Wizz-Ra get it back, they find themselves controlled and used to attack Wizz-Ra. All the Cats fall prety to the same fate, except Cheetara who had been in a trance thanks to Mumm-Ra's earlier efforts. She comes out of it in time for her and Wizz-Ra to give it one more shot. Arrogance is Mumm-Ra's undoing - that and he's tricked into thinking the day is over and takes off the helmet, allowing Wizz-Ra to regain his property. The Thundercats are released from the helmet's hold and good triumphs once more. Back to top In yet another guise, Mumm-Ra lures Lion-O into Spidera's den and only Snarf is there to help. Soon, both he and Lion-O are in a bind. That is, until Lion-O finally calls for help and the others arrive to help put an end to Spidera's terrors. Back to top Mumm-Ra enlists the help of an alien mercenary by the name of Captain Shiner to lure the Thundercats into a trap by pretending his space vessel, the Vertis, is in distress. When the Feliner investigates and Lion-O goes aboard, he's ambushed and the Sword is taken by Mumm-Ra and thrown into a black hole. Cheetara returns in the Feliner to Third Earth to get Panthro, who then boards the Vertis as well to search for Lion-O and Snarf. He rescues the pair and together they take command of the Vertis to do the unthinkable - fly into a black hole. Once there, they're taken captive by the computerized denizen of the black hole. But once Jaga reminds Lion-O that the Eye only sleeps til needed, Lion-O is able to call the sword to him and effect their escape. They barely make it out of the black hole with the Vertis falling apart, but Cheetara is waiting to pick them up when they emerge. Back to top The Thunderkittens discover a harp, and when strummed, a genie appears to grant them three wishes. They're so impressed, they give it to Lion-O as a gift without telling him about the genie. Unfortunately, the genie - for his freedom - is about to do Mumm-Ra's bidding. So when Lion-O makes the genie appear, the genie sends Lion-O deep underground and binds him. The Kittens soon meet the same fate. Eventually, Lion-O is able to call to the others with the Sword and they help him escape before the genie and Mumm-Ra bring down the cavern with their fighting (thanks to Mumm-Ra not holding up his end of the promise). The harp is buried in the cave-in, but Mumm-Ra also escapes to fight another day. Back to top Lion-O awakes on his birthday to be greeted only by Snarf and a huge banquet of a breakfast. He soon learns that this birthday harkens the age where he must prove he's worthy of his hereditary title by besting all the Thundercats in trials. If he succeeds, he'll be crowned the Lord of the Thundercats officially. His first challenge is to defeat Panthro strength for strength, but first he must fight his way, unarmed, through the wild Third Earth countryside. When he finally meets up with Panthro, it seems they're evently matched. Until they both have to try to stop a boulder from causing a landslide that would wipe out the Wollo village below. Panthro can't do it, but Lion-O succeeds, thus winning the Trial of Strength. Back to top A curious looking fellow calling himself the Demolisher is traveling the galaxy looking for worthy opponents with which to pick a fight. His first stop on Third Earth is Mumm-Ra, whom he beats. This gives Mumm-Ra the idea to send him after Lion-O. After quite a battle, Lion-O calls his friends and the Demolisher chides him for needing back-up to beat him. But Lion-O insists he called them merely to make sure Lion-O doesn't harm the Demolisher as he finishes the fight himself. Back to top Monkian is given magic orbs from Mumm-Ra, which grant him certain powers. He then sets off to capture all the Thundercats, bringing Lion-O and Snarf back to Mumm-Ra in the Pyramid. Mumm-Ra binds the two and takes the Sword. Monkian is then let in on the catch to his powers - he's not allowed to leave the Pyramid and enjoy the spoils of victory. This sparks a battle between Monkian and Mumm-Ra, which allows Lion-O and Snarf a chance to grab the Sword and leave. Back to top In this episode, Mumm-Ra sends an energy bolt into Cats Lair which effectively seals shut their weapons room. When the Mutants attack, only Snarf is small enough to crawl through an air duct to get the Sword. Jackalman pursues him, but Snarf succeeds and is soon able to pass the weapon onto Lion-O so he can ensure victory for the Cats. Back to top Tiny citizens of the countryside are sick of the fighting and destruction among the "giants" around them, so when Lion-O takes a nap in the countryside, they bind him to the ground with tiny but strong threads. These people, called Micrits, also go into the Lair and steal all the Thundercats' weapons and disable the Lair's power. The Mutants move in noticing the darkened Lair, and Lion-O pleads to be set free. At first they refuse, but then Snarf shows up and Lion-O bargains to leave Snarf as collateral of sorts for his own freedom. After he returns the weapons to the Lair, the 'Cats are easily able to dismiss the Mutants. Lion-O goes back for Snarf and promises the Micrits that the Thundercats won't tear through their countryside anymore. He even marks their territory with signs so everyone will know to keep out. Back to top Lion-O's trials continue as he must face Cheetara in a race. He's sure he can't beat the super-speedster, but tries anyway. At first he takes a different route hoping to buy some time. But thanks to some Mutant interference and treacherous countryside, the going is tough. For the last few miles, he and Cheetara meet up again and it looks like he has to race her flat out afterall. He's not optimistic, but he gives it a shot anyway. He doesn't give up and barely wins for Cheetara can't maintain her top speed for long distances. Lion-O successfully completes this trial. Back to top Mumm-Ra brings to life a stone giant to attack Cats Lair. The Thundercats have a terrible time dealing with it as their defenses and weapons have little effect on the creature. That is, until Jaga appears to Lion-O and gives him a hint about how to use hot and cold to defeat it. Back to top Fed up with his treatment among the ranks of the Mutants, Jackalman strikes out on his own to become general of his own army. His new cohorts consist of the Driller and Mole Master, and together they do their share of causing trouble. Until the Thundercats send him crawling back to Plun-Darr in defeat. Back to top A walrus-man of the Tuska race flies to Cats Lair to ask for the Thundercats' help in fighting a menace to his land and people - the giant technopede. The Cats decide to help Turmagar and head off in the Thundertank to venture to his land. The way is long and dangerous, but eventually they arrive. Things look hopeless but the Thundercats aren't willing to give up. They destroy the technopede and save Turmagar's land and people - and secure the spring which is the origin of the River of Despair, an important water source for all Third Earthers. A new ally is gained in the Tuskas. Back to top In this third Trial, Lion-O must face and out-smart the Thunderkittens, who do their best to trick him with illusions and such. Lion-O must beat them out of the underground maze of infinity to win. But he also has to deal with a strange race of bug-eyed residents of the caves and Mutants, too. They reach the cave exit at the same time, but thanks to some last minute cunning on Lion-O's part, he beats the twins to the tree which marks the finish point and thus wins their trial. Back to top Mumm-Ra, diguised as a berbil, gains entrance into the Lair when he fakes being hurt. Snarf and the twins make him comfortable in his own room, but when night falls Mumm-Ra goes to work attaching bracelets on the 'Cats one by one which enables him to control them. Snarf manages to escape to go fetch Lion-O, who just happened to be out in the forest camping out by himself. By the time Lion-O returns to the Lair, all the 'Cats are under Mumm-Ra's control, and even Snarf falls prey to the trap. Eventually, the Signal gives the 'Cats the strength to overcome the spell and they all send Mumm-Ra packing. Back to top Mumm-Ra brings back several blasts from the past - such as the Warbot, technopede, etc - to give each Thundercat something to play with while they're out showing off for new recording devices Panthro had made to record them in action. The Cats struggle with their tasks until Lion-O sends the signal up. Each on takes care of their creature and goes to his aid, as he had his hands full fighting off all the Mutants. Back to top While out in a bad thunderstorm, the Thunderkittens take refuge in one of the old suspension capsules from their wrecked spacecraft. But, they soon find themselves trapped inside. What's worse, the Mutants get to them before the Thundercats, and they're taken prisoner within the capsule. They end up Mumm-Ra's prisoners, and Lion-O comes to try to rescuse them at the Pyramid. He gets into trouble, but the Kittens figure out how to help him from inside the capsule. Back at the Lair, the Cats are trying to think of a way to get the Thunderkittens out of the capsule but Snarf wins the day by giving he capsule a good thwack with his tail - thereby opening it and freeing the twins. Back to top Lion-O now must face Tygra in his fourth trial. This one takes place in the snowy regions of Third Earth while Tygra uses his mental energy to cast illusions which Lion-O must decipher as real or imagined. The Mutants also get in the game, and Tygra must waste valuable energy tricking them with illusions so they won't ruin the trial. Eventually, Lion-O is forced to face his biggest fear in an elaborate illusion - the destruction of Thundera - and comes out victorious. This episode is most noted as being the one and only time in all 130 episodes where Tygra's mind powers are on display. Back to top Mumm-Ra uses the legend of King Arthur to disguise himself as the King and coax the Lady of the Lake to give him Exaclibur, a sword he believes can best the Sword of Omens. As Arthur, Mumm-Ra travels to Cats Lair under the assumption he is looking to join forces with the Thundercats. However, he comes off as haughty and arrogant, which angers Lion-O. Acting on foolish pride, Lion-O agrees to a joust with the knight. The joust goes down, but when the two get into a sword fight afterward, the two magical swords leave their master's hands and fight on their own, Excalibur indeed emerging victorious after piercing the Eye of Thundera. Mumm-Ra reveals himself and has a moment to bask in the glory of his win for but a moment, until Merlin appears and sends the mummy away. Merlin then restores the Eye and gives Lion-O the right to decide what happens to Excalibur. Lion-O ends up learning a lesson about pride and orders Excalibur returned to the Lady of the Lake. Back to top Snowman has a problem with an old ice king wreaking havoc in his kingdom, so he asks the Thundercats for help. The old king seems to be on a mission to find something and is quite unstopable. Until the Thundercats figure out that an egg-shaped jewel with a hologram inside is what the king sought - for in it contained the image of himself as a lad with his true love. Once he sees the vision in the egg, he happily goes away. The Thundercats ponder the power of true love, but lose the egg when tossing it about afraid that the owner will be cursed. Snowman finally explains the owner would have been blessed. Ah well. Back to top Two alien crafts arrive on Third Earth. One is occupied by the unsightly Territor. The other, sleek ship is occupied by the more attractive creature called a Kymera. Snarf and Lion-O are the only ones around at the Lair, and make assumptions about the Territor based on his ghastly looks and the Kymera's lies. They find out the Territor was telling the truth about needing help and protection from the Kymera and thwart the attractive but evil creature just in time. Lion-O learns not to judge on outward appearances alone. Back to top Yet again, an alien craft enters Third Earth atmosphere, and the Thundercats are alarmed to learn that this vessel carries in it a black cannon-ball like sphere that is highly explosive and destructive. They cannot let the ship crash land or Third Earth would be obliterated - and they can't let the orb fall into the wrong hands. So the race is on for the ship's cargo. Jackalman ends up getting to it first, but instead of bringing it back to Mumm-Ra and Slithe, he runs with it. Lion-O pursues him, and eventually gains the orb. In the end, the Cats send it and the ship out into space where they can safely detonate the thing. Back to top Vultureman invents a voice imitator and uses it to sound like the Thundercats and use fake distress calls on their communicators to lure them into traps. It works well until he's found out and the Cats converge on Castle Plun-Darr. Once they have the voice imitator, they use it to thwart Slithe and his cohorts who are out on their vehicles. The Cats learn to double check and get back-up before rushing in to unknown situations. Back to top Mumm-Ra comes up with a plot to imprison the Thundercats' "dream selves" so that eventually, they won't wake up and Lion-O will be alone for him to pick off. After the first night of disturbing dreams, the Thundercats are so exhausted they make foolish mistakes in battle and do things like fall asleep at the controls. Lion-O is baffled until the second night, when Mumm-Ra bottles up the others' dream selves and threatens to destroy them. To his dismay, the signal still awakens the others' real selves, and Cheetara saves the vials containing the dream selves, restoring them to each Cat. Mumm-Ra is then soundly defeated. Back to top When Willa is taken prisoner by the Mutants, Tygra offers to help rescue her by traveling to Castle Plun-Darr invisible. Nayda, her sister, insists on going as well, so Tygra makes them both invisible. They have fun messing with the Mutants and do free Willa, but there's a problem. Tygra, having never made two people invisible before, lacked the power to restore them to visible status. Being invisible ceases to be fun and the duo is desperate to be seen again. Finally, Lion-O realizes it's the Eye that grants the Thundercats their powers and uses it to make the pair visible again. Back to top Lion-O is out mountain climbing to bring some adventure into his life, so Mumm-Ra figures the Mutants must not be trying hard enough. He sends Slithe, Monkian and Jackalman out to the mountain to ambush Lion-O. They're armed with Thundrainium cannons, and Lion-O is soon too weak to fight. He gets the signal out and Panthro and Tygra speed to his aid, but not before Lion-O and Jackalman go tumbling off the mountain side in a fierce struggle over the Sword. Panthro, Tygra and the remaining Mutatns are trapped inside a cave after a rockslide and must work together to get out or run out of air and die. Meanwhile, Lion-O and Jackalman struggle in a river for control of the Sword until Jackalman ultimately wins, gaining the Sword. Jackalman climbs back up the mountain with Lion-O in pursuit. They have another confrontation in front of the cave where their friends are trapped. When Lion-O gets the Sword back, he uses it to free those in the cave. The Mutants are sent on their way and everyone is okay. Back to top Vultureman invents a potion that gives him super strength and powers. He uses his powers to bully the Mutants and beat the Thundercats. He almost has Lion-O beat when Mumm-Ra appears with Vultureman's potion - thanks to the fed up Mutants finding it beforehand - and Lion-O destroys the vial. With Vultureman unable to renew his power, he's defeated and the hold he had on the other Cats is released. Back to top After a run-in with the Mutants, Snarf comes down with a cold and an idea - what if he had a weapon. Say, like the Sword of Omens? Of course, Lion-O isn't going to give up the real deal so Panthro whips up a passable replica. Later, with Snarf alone at the Lair, the Mutants catch wind of the Sword being left there with just measely old Snarf. Snarf tries to stay out of sight, as the plan was to "let" the Mutants steal the fake sword, but his sneezing gives him away and he's captured. Lion-O and Panthro must now rescue Snarf and they all learn a lesson about joking around. Back to top Though Lion-O has bested his fellow Thundercats to earn his title properly, he has one more to go. He must vanquish his ultimate enemy and for Lion-O, that is Mumm-Ra. Like the other trials, he must face him unarmed. So Lion-O sets off for the Pyramid with Mumm-Ra trying to thwart him every step of the way. They finally face off inside the Pyramid in a mighty battle. But, Lion-O notices that when the sarcophogus is damaged in the skirmish, Mumm-Ra is adversely affected. He then tosses the entire crypt into the cauldron and Mumm-Ra fades to dust. At the end, a huge ceremony is thrown where Lion-O wears a crown and cape as the official Lord of the Thundercats. Back to top While the grown ups are out, the Thunderkittens decide they're tired of being treated like kids and having lame weapons to boot. So they sneak into the weapons room and swipe the other 'Cats' weapons (save for the Sword, of course) and head off to a forest clearing to practice with them. Unfortunately, the Mutants pop by and disarm them. Now the kids are in big trouble if they don't get the weapons back, so they're off to Castle Plundarr. They fail there, too and must go back to the Lair and confess to Lion-O what they'd done. He accompanies them for a return trip, and eventually they do get the weapons back. When the others return, Lion-O doesn't heap misery on the twins by telling on them. Back to top The Mutants are saved by an unknown force, and find themselves near a Pyramid just like Mumm-Ra's but white. Upon entering, they meet Mumm-Rana, a female mummy and Mumm-Ra's polar opposite. They don't prove too grateful for the save, but this calls Mumm-Ra's attention to her. He succeeds in overpowering her and then uses her to fight the Thundercats. She traps the Sword and exiles Lion-O, but he soon figures out she's a force of good and is able to not only free the sword but free her from Mumm-Ra's spell. She then becomes fast allies with the 'Cats. Back to top Vultureman invents something called "the shifter", which is a gun-like mechanism that shoots two parties with a beam and the beam causes the two struck by it to switch minds. After convincing his cohorts it works by testing it on Slithe and Jackalman, Vultureman manages to switch Panthro and Snarf. Those two have no choice but to try to warn the others by taking off in the Thundertank - although Panthro can't drive with Snarf's body, so "snarf" gets a crash course in Tank driving. Meanwhile, the Mutants are attacking the Lair and eventually, Lion-O and Kat are also switched. In the end, the Sword sets things right by destroying the shifter. Back to top Mumm-Ra takes the form of Dr. Dometone to lead Lion-O into a cavern full of statues and painting, supposedly in honor of Lion-O for being such a cool hero. But, Mumm-Ra hits him with warp gas that makes him a scaredy cat after he had to fight an "evil" version of himself. Then the painting come to life and many of their old enemies - Safari Joe, Spidera - must be dealt with by the Thundercats who have come to try to help Lion-O. Back to top Lion-O dreams about the day Thundera died and how he thought he saw three of his countrymen not make it to their ships. Jaga appears when Lion-O awakes to tell him that the Thunderians are not dead but on Third Earth and that Cheetara could tell him more. She does, but she can't pinpoint their exact location - just that it's an island in the ocean. Mumm-Ra is also wise to the new developments and sends the Berzerkers out to capture the Thunderians. The pirates succeed, and Lion-O tries but fails to rescue them off Hammerhand's boat. The ep ends with Lion-O in the ocean and boiling alive thanks to volleys of fire from Hammerhand's vessel. Back to top Lion-O is plucked out of the ocean by Panthro in the brand new Thunderclaw. They all suspect Mumm-Ra's hand in this interference and send Snarf back to get the others. He's captured by Ratar-O in the Ratstar, so Lion-O has to try to rescue Snarf. But is dumped off over Hook Mountain where Snowman later finds him half-frozen in the snow. Meanwhile, the Thunderians are taken away by the Berzerkers and despite attempts to escape, are passed off to Captain Shiner who takes them to Fire Rock Mountain - a foreboding place surrounded by Thundrainium which weakens Thundercats. At the show's close, Lion-O and snowman are attacked by Mutants in a new vehicle of their own - the Fist Pounder. Back to top Lion-O manages to escape becoming a pan cake under the fist pounder, but all that pounding causes an avalanche that he's snared in. Once again, Lion-O is frozen in the snow, but this time the Sword saves him. He signals the others to help him handle the Mutants, but before Cheetara and Tygra arrive, he commandeers Slithe's skycutter. After the battle, Lion-O heads off in the Mutant vehicle to the Black Pyramid to confront Mumm-Ra. In the meantime, Panthro is trying to help Snowman deal with the Fist Pounder elsewhere and gets blasted by the Ratstar which has also joined in the melee. Slithe and Jackalman take off to meet Shiner at Fire Rock Mountain to guard the Thunderians. They try to escape again, as the fumes from the Thundrillium aren't so bad inside the mountain as around it, but are thwarted. At the Pyramid, Lion-O has to deal with Mumm-Ra's new pet pooch, Ma-Mutt, and gets into some trouble with animated mummy wrappings. The ep ends with his hair stuck under a door and his body covered with the wrappings gone amok. Back to top The light of day dissolves the wrappings holding Lion-O prisoner, and he inexplicably abandons his quest to find Mumm-Ra and heads off to Fire Rock Mountain instead. The Mutants plot to wait for Panthro and the others on the only road to FRM, intending to ambush them with the fist pounder seems how Cheetara and Tygra bailed Panthro out of his last skirmish with the Ratstar. Speaking of the Ratstar, it's ordered by Mumm-Ra to go to FRM as reinforcement, but Ratar-O has to fly over Tuskania where the Tuskas fire on him. The ship is damaged and Snarf manages to escape. Turmagar finds Snarf who explains what's going on. The two notice the Berserker's ship docked on a nearby beach and overhear how the Berzerkers are plotting to re-kidnap the Thunderians so that they can re-sell them to Mumm-Ra for more gold. To stop them, Snarf and Turmagar take their ship out to sea. At FRM, the Thunderians again try to escape and are more successful this time. But as they reach the end of the cave, the fumes from the Thundrillium is quite an obstacle. Mumm-Ra decides, in the meantime, to once again use Hachiman to try to stop Lion-O. Since the samurai already knows Lion-O is not evil, Mumm-Ra has to work some voodoo on him so that he'll do his bidding. They have a confrontation on the fumy bridge that lead to FRM, and it looks like Lion-O is doomed as he slips over the edge of the bridge. Back to top Hachiman comes to his senses in time to save Lion-O from a deadly fall. Afterward, Lion-O explains what's going on and Hachiman resolves to help him. Mumm-Ra tries to gather his forces by sending Shiner back to FRM, but Cheetara and Tygra intercede and send him and the Vertis on a space warp speed ride. Snarf and Turmagar, now joined by the Thunderkittens, try to battle the Berzerkers who caught up with their ship. They're inadvertantly helped out by Panthro, who got wise to Monkian's Fist Pounder ambush and eventually, sends the fist pounder over a cliff where it happens to land...on the Berzerker's ship. The Rat Star, in the meantime, is pretty useless thanks to the Tuska's earlier attacks. This means Mumm-Ra will have to deal with the threat himself. Lion-O is trying to figure out how to get to the Thunderians when Jaga appears and says the Star of Thundera can make him immune to the effects of Thundrainium. Jaga goes off to fetch it, but Mumm-Ra sends Grune to stop him. After a short battle in which the Star disposes of Grune, Jaga gains the Star and puts it in a talismen. He gives it to Lion-O, who crosses the bridge to the cave in FRM and gets the Thunderians as they're shielded from the effects simply by touching Lion-O. Angered, Mumm-Ra snatches Lion-O's talismen and, against Jaga's urgent warnings, opens the locket-like talismen. The power of the Star destroys FRM and seemingly, Mumm-Ra with it. Everyone heads back to the Lair and gets to know one another. The Thunderians, ever-humble, don't assume they'd get to live there but Lion-O bestows a special gift on them - Lynx-O, Pumyra and Bengali are all anointed Thundercats! Back to top We learn that Mumm-Ra survived the Star's power but is very weak. Ma-Mutt takes him back to the Pyramid and the dog has to impersonate his master so that the Mutants still think Mumm-Ra is okay. Snarf spots Ma-Mutt flying to Castle Plundarr while in the Berbil Village getting provisions for the big party the Cats were going to throw to celebrate the rescuing of their countrymen and Mumm-Ra's demise, and follows. He overhears "Mumm-Ra" telling the Mutants to go to Dark Side - which is an unexplored and dangerous area beyond FRM - to free the Lunataks. They were imprisoned in lava long ago when they made the mistake of trying to overthrow Mumm-Ra, but given Mummsie is so weak, he needs to throw a formidable foe at the Thundercats in the meantime. Reluctantly, the Mutants do as told. Snarf does warn the others, but the Thundriainium pits are an issue and they can't stop the Mutants from freeing the Lunie menace. The ep ends with these new bad guys freed. Back to top The Cat's notice someone has been pilfering their Thundrillium stores and that the meek races of Third Earth are being enslaved to do someone's dirty work. And that someone(s) are the Lunataks, as their fortress called Sky Tomb is built in Dark Side. The Cats still can't get there to investigate, but while lurking on their own side of FRM Lion-O has his first meeting with a Lunie. Tug Mug gives him a real run for his money and breaks the Sword of Omens' blade like a twig. Lucky for them, the new 'Cat, Bengali, is a blacksmith and reforged the blade. Then an escaped Wolo and Balkan slave informs them about Sky Tomb. Though the Cats don't know how to get over to Dark Side until Lynx-o thinks he can guide them through the Forest of Mists - an alternate route to Dark Side - in the new ThunderStrike and using his Braille Board. It works! But when they arrive, Sky Tomb is gone and they soon figure out it's a flying fortress. Back to top The Cats' answer to Sky Tomb is the Tower of Omens, though the Tower cannot fly. It is built in a strategic location in relation to Dark Side so that the Cats' - or mainly, Lynx-O and his sensitive senses and Braille Board - can monitor activity. The Berbils once again helped with construction. Snarfer is also called upon to come to Third Earth and help with the Tower's upkeep. Mumm-Ra wants the new Tower attacked and the Lunies to their best with Sky Tomb and the Lunatacker. There's also internal struggle among the Lunies about how will lead, but Luna puts her stubby foot down. They weather the fight even as more of the Lunies showcase their impressive powers, and Mumm-Ra considers calling on the ASOE to empower him enough so he can take care of business himself. Back to top This installment centers around Snarfer's arrival from the Planet of Snarfs and the race to get to his crashed vessel first. The Lunies want him as leverage, and the Thundercats want him for obvious reasons. He crashes on Dark Side and is persued by the Lunies. Snarfer manages to take care of Alluro with the help of some honey and giant bees, but Chilla gets the best of him. Red Eye also gives Lynx-O grief by jamming his Braille Board making it hard for the Cats to navigate to Dark Side. But, after a skirmish, Lion-O and the others rescue Snarfer and Mumm-Ra is left - after the ASOE have already re-energized him - to take matters into his own hands. Back to top The Lunies are going to get rid of their slaves figuring they have no more use for them, but Mumm-Ra convinces them that slaves make nice lures for goody-goodies. So, the Thundercats have to formulate a plan to free their meek friends. Cheetara and Lynx-O, being of the extra-and-ultra-sensory types, head off to the Black Pyramid to get info on Mumm-Ra. They find a strange talismen that Lynx-O senses is not evil, and it eventually saves them from Ma-Mutt and the ASOE statues. They take the Talismen and head to Dark Side to assist the others who have all gotten captured and imprisoned in Sky Tomb. When they arrive, Lion-O uses the sword to free himself but finds Mumm-Ra is not longer vulnerable to his own reflection. Luckily, Lynx-O thinks to use the talismen on him and it works. The Cats slink off while the Lunies fight over the discarded Talismen. Back to top Mumm-Ra, taking the guise of Jaga, appears to Lion-O to "warn" him about the new Thundercats and their treacherous ways. Lion-O is loathe to believe it, but considers Jaga never lied to him before. The seed of suspicion planted, Mumm-Ra takes the guise of Turmagar and while in a vehicle with Pumyra and Bengali, "accidently" fires on the ThunderTank. The others assume the fire was on purpose and the Cats are soon fighting - among themselves! This leaves the door open for the Lunies to attack the Lair and Lion-O, but the signal in the sky snaps the fighting factions out of their bloodlust enough to help Lion-O. Disaster averted, they put together what happened for real and feel foolish for ever thinking one group wanted to harm the other. Back to top Alluro finds the Egora talismen which gives its owner the ultimate in confidence. It seems that combined with his psych powers have the Thundercats defeated. But it's Snarf to the rescue. Arming himself with all the Thundercats' weapons, he sets out on a rescue mission and finds the talismen on Alluro's ship. Believing he's now the confident, invincible one, he bravely takes Alluro on - and wins. In the end, he finds out he did it alone as the box that supposedly held the talismen was empty. Back to top Mumm-Ra cooks up a scheme to get the Mask of Gorgon and the Sword of Omens together to wake up the "child of elfshima". The mask alone is a medusa-like thing that turns those it looks upon to stone. Chilla and Tug Mug find that out when they fetch the mask for Mumm-Ra. Then Mumm-Ra tricks Lion-O into coming to the Pyramid, the whole while Lynx-O has been freaking out and spouting doomful prophecy about a giant. Gaining the Sword from Lion-O, Mumm-Ra is able to use the power of Second Sight with the mask, which turns distant stony hills outside the Pyramid - the hills of Elfshima - to flesh, and a giant arises. But soon, Lynx-O is able to put it out of commission by flying into its ear and knocking it over. Back to top The Lunataks ignore Third Earth legend to enter a mine near Hook Mountain teeming with Thundrillium, also their power source for their fortress. Inside the mine lurks the Mad Bubbler, who after encasing his victims in bubbles, has them emerge filled with an uncontrollable urge to destroy anyone else in the vicinity. Since the Lunies had caused a forest fire earlier before they went in the mine, the Thundercats show up and find themselves in a similar predicament. Only Snarf can save them as snarfs are supposedly incapable of evil and thus, immune to the Bubbler's effects. He manages to lure the maddened Thundercats out of the mine and in range of the Sword of Omens which snaps them out of the destructive frenzy. Back to top Mumm-Ra bestows Thundrainium coated armor on the Berzerkers who go on the attack at the Tower of Omens. Lion-O, tipped off by the Sword's warning, must go try to help. But once he leaves the kittens and Snarf alone in the Lair, it's the Lunies' cue to attack the Lair. The new Thundercats are soon saved, but Lynx-O suffered grave injuries that only the Sword could heal. The Berzerker's, stripped of their armor, flee and it's only Alluro they have to deal with at the Lair. Lion-O and Tygra pretend to be under his control, but wore earplugs to resist the lulling voice. Once inside the Lair, they send Alluro packing. Back to top A red beam is hypnotizing the Thundercats one by one and drawing them to Ravage Island where they're being imprisoned by Mumm-Ra and the Mutants. But Snarfs are not affected, so together with Lynx-O they mount a rescue mission that eventually sets their friends free. The Sword's magic releases the beacon's hold on the Thundercats' minds and all is well. Back to top Exposed to too much anti-aging gas from one of their old suspension capsules, Lion-O begins to get younger and younger. The adults aren't sure what they can do to save him from becoming an infant and then...not existing at all. And as Lion-O gets younger he gets into more mischief. Including eventually getting captured by the Lunataks. He's rescued but by the time the Thundercats get him to the Cave of Time, he's a baby. They lure him into the cave with a biscuit to crawl after and then tug on the rope they tied to him to get him to come back out before he's an old man. He emerges back to his older, adult self. Back to top Vultureman invents a sonic gun that uses one of the legendary Sound Stones he stole from Soundora, their keeper. The Lunies draft Vultureman and his invention into their ranks, and together they use it to take over the Tower of Omens. The Thundercats soon go and get their own sound stone - with Soundora's permission of course - and use it to get the Tower back and get the Lunies off their backs. Soundora, deciding the stones aren't safe on Third Earth anymore, sends the whole box of rocks to another dimension. Back to top A once-a-century eclipse is about to occur, and Mumm-Ra couldn't be happier. Any spell he casts during the event will last til the next eclipse. So Mumm-Ra casts a spell of decay that will rot all the Thundercats' vehicles and buildings. After a while of things breaking and crumbling around them, Lion-O figures Mumm-Ra is the culprit and confirms this by going to the Pyramid. Understanding the curse, Lion-O decides to skip the century wait and uses the Sword and signal to "create" his own eclipse and soon everything rights itself. Back to top On his way back to the Tower of Omens, Snarfer is "side swiped" by Chilla in the ice runner. Seeing this, Mandora pulls the pair over and tries to give Chilla a ticket, but the Lunie ices the cop's throat and flees. Snarfer helps unfreeze Mandora's throat and the two go back to the Tower, though Mandora is bent on bringing Chilla to justice. So Lynx-O offers to accompany Mandora to Dark Side so she can give persuit. Lynx-O ends up captured and hooked up to the Lunies' skull scope so he'll be forced to tell them how his Braille Board works. Mandora must deal with Red Eye and his pacifier, and once she escapes she's able to help Lynx-O and collar Chilla - after they're tricked one more time and saved by Lion-O. Chilla is forced to drink anti-freeze as her punishment. Back to top Amok and Luna overhear Snarf telling the Kittens and Pumyra the legend of Queen Luna and how Mumm-Rana defeated her. The tale is of interest to Luna as the Queen was a powerful relative of hers and the belt was the key to her powers. So Luna sets off to the White Pyramid to swipe the item from the good mummy, Mumm-Rana. But Pumyra notices them in the vicinity and follows them. However, neither she nor Mumm-Rana can stop the Lunie pair and the belt falls into Luna's hands. When she dons the belt, she becomes full-sized and powerful. And she also has no use for the loyal Amok any longer. Luna gets the Thundercats in a tough position, but loses the belt in the coarse of battle with Mumm-Rana who had come to help stop Luna's rampage. Amok is in a position to get the belt back to Luna but bats it into a deep ravine instead so that the diminutive Luna would need him again. Back to top The Lunataks have built an automaton, a robot that will do their bidding. He's built like a samurai and the Lunies lure Hachiman to them so they can steal his sword, the Thundercutter, to arm the robot with. Their lure works and later the Thunderkittens find the frozen Hachiman in a cave. They thaw him out by a fire and he tells them how he was tricked. Hachiman, for his honor's sake, feels he must now find these Lunataks on his own to right how they'd wronged him. Kat and Snarfer follow him leaving Kit to go for backup. Hachiman has to pass through the Valley of Chains to get to Dark Side and soon all three are trapped by chains that come up out of the ground. Soon Lion-O and Kit come to the rescue but get snared in the chains as well. Then the Lunies send out their robot to finish them. He and Hachiman scuffle but when Hachiman touches the blade of the Thundercutter, it realizes the robot is evil and causes it to self-destruct. The Lunies try to give chase, but discord in their ranks and an avalanche caused by Lion-O and Hachiman thwart them. Back to top Tired of still being treated like little kids, the Thunderkittens pack a few things and take off. They stop for the night near an outcropping of rocks and find a little cave that seems to be someone's home, yet the owner isn't home. They hang out there anyway and eat some wild berries they found. The adults, realizing the pair has run away, are out searching for them in the meantime. The cave owner comes home in time to find some sick kittens - they ate bad berries - and saves their lives. The creature's name is Kudi and she is friendly enough. But later when the Thundercats find the kittens, Mumm-Ra takes Kudi's form and he's actually the one that goes back to the Lair as the 'Cats' special guest. He wreaks havoc there and soon they all realize it's not Kudi they invited home. He steals the Sword and seals the Thundercats in a room with poisonous gases - until Lion-O calls the Sword to him and gets rid of Mumm-Ra. They then go find the real Kudi to tell her what happened and to thank her for helping the Thunderkittens. Back to top With most of the regulars on a space mission, Snarf and Lion-O are left alone in the Lair. When Snarf goes out for candy fruit, he's kidnapped by Ma-Mutt so Mumm-ra can switch Ma-Mutt and Snarf's bodies, and sends the fake Snarf back to the Lair with poison candy fruit. After Lion-O eats the fruit, he passes out clearing the way for Mumm-Ra to show up and take over the Lair/start destroying it. The new 'Cats at the Tower soon suspect something amiss, and come to help but run into trouble. Lion-O does awake but Mumm-Ra still is too powerful for him to handle alone. Seeing the signal at the Pyramid, Snarf utters Mumm-Ra's transformation spell and the ASOE transform him into a super huge and buff Snarf with all the powers Mumm-Ra has. He flies to the Lair and defeats Mumm-Ra. In the end, Lion-O uses the Sword of Omens to change Snarf back to his normal size. Back to top Vultureman uses a new invention that fires Thundrainium on the Thunderkittens who crash their spaceboards as a result. They're okay and eventually go with a Wollo to his village. Lion-O sets out to find the kids as they've been gone too long, and follows some clues to the Wollo village which has been frozen over by Chilla. He has to fight Chilla and the Mutants - in additoin to Vultureman's new invention - to save his friends, so he calls for help. With Bengali fighting beside him, they succeed and the Sword thaws the village out. Back to top Mumm-Ra reveals what started Thundera on the road to destruction - it was the young Jaga who took from Mutant leader Ratilla, the Sword of Plun-Darr, and threw it into a chasm on Thundera. This Sword started the tremors that led to Thundera's death. Mumm-Ra then uses a time machine of sorts to travel back to Thundera, intending to get this Sword for himself. He's also interested in the Treasure of Thundera, which if found, holds all the Thundercats' secrets. Lynx-O picks up on a weird vibration and the Thundercats soon figure out that Thundera is reforming, and worse yet Mumm-Ra has a pyramid on the face of the reforming planet. On top of that, he's enslaved snarves to find the Treasure of Thundera. After determining that Mumm-Ra really is on Thundera by going to his pyramid on Third Earth, the Thundercats set off to modify the Feliner for long space flight. But then the Tower of Omens is attacked and taken over by Lunataks. Lion-O is setting out to rescue the Tower as the ep ends. Back to top After Lion-O saves the Cats at the Tower, the Lunies retreat and Vultureman splits from them to work alone. He spies on the Cats at the Lair to find out what's going on with Thundera. Vultureman decides to fix the RatStar so that he can stop the Feliner before it ever leaves Third Earth, and Slithe invites himself along. Meanwhile, the Cats figure out the the Moons of Plun-Darr are now influencing Thundera and making some areas of the restored planet trecherous places, so they invent special suits and equipment to deal with those environments. When it's time to leave, the Mutants do ambush the Feliner - which carries Lion-O, Cheetara, Tygra, Panthro, and Snarf and Snarfer - and hit it with a freeze ray. It works on everyone but the two snarfs who manage to help Lion-O get the sword to save them. Just as the Feliner crew breaks free from the scuffle thanks to some help from Bengali, Lynx-O informs them that Mumm-Ra has found the Sword of Plun-Darr. Back to top Lion-O and his pals arrive on New Thundera aboard the Feliner. Before they go looking for treasure and freeing snarfs, they decide to rest overnight first. But, Snarf and Snarfer slip away during the night as they're impatient about the state of their kind in slavery. They find Egbert and Oswalt near Mumm-Ra's new Pyramid, digging for treasure. But Mumm-Ra gets wise to this and rightly assumes the Thundercats must be near. So he captures the Snarfs and takes the guise of Snarfer. The 'Cats, having awoke to find their furry sidekicks missing, have been searching for them and the fake "Snarfer" leads them to where the others had been digging. He convinces Lion-O to use sight beyond sight to find the treasure box. It works, and Mumm-Ra reveals his identity and fights off the 'Cats with the powerful double bladed Sword of Plun-Darr. Back to top Mumm-Ra escapes with the little golden treasure chest, but the Sword of Omens flies up and shatters the chest, effectively scattering the treasures across the surface of new Thundera. Mumm-Ra does come away with one piece - the Book of Omens - and takes it back to his abode for further study. Then the Mutants arrive in the RatStar and Mumm-Ra gives them a fake Book of Omens (they don't know it's a fake, though) to go hide for safe keepings, which gets the attention of the Thundercats. The Mutants were granted magical protection by Mumm-Ra from all the strange environments on Thundera, and inadvertantly lead the 'Cats right into the Valley of Youth. The Sword's power kept Lion-O from its effects, but all the other 'Cats revert to cub-hood. What's worse, is Lion-O sees in the Sword that the ones left behind on Third Earth are now under attack by the Lunies and remaining Mutants, so he has no choice but to send the kid version of the 'Cats back in the Feliner to help. He plans to stay on Thundera and deal with Mumm-Ra but old bone bag has his own plans - to make sure the Thundercubs don't leave. Back to top The Thundercubs do escape and make it to Third Earth. Kit and Kat were freed from slavery by Snowman, and meet up with the Thundercubs. After a mishap trying to navigate the Forest of Mists to get to Dark Side, they have to walk to Sky Tomb. Although they manage to free Lynx-O and the others there, the Lunies are hot on their tails and it doesn't look good. On Thundera, Lion-O goes to the Pyramid to deal with Mumm-Ra, who is still trying to decipher the Book of Omens. The ASOE grant Mumm-Ra power like never before and he and Lion-O clash mightily. This affords Snarf a chance to grab the Book of Omens. Lion-O triumphs and the pyramid starts to crumble. Vultureman and Slithe, seeing the crumbling pyramid, get out of Dodge. Snarf has the mind to rescue Ma-Mutt, whom he'd put under a spell with a strange flute he found. He uses this device to get Ma-Mutt to show them how Mumm-Ra traveled to Thundera, and so they take the time travel device back to Third Earth just in time to save the 'Cubs. Afterwards, the cubs go into the Cave of Time to become their adult selves once again. Back to top The spirits scour the surface of New Thundera and come up with one of the Treasures - the Totem of Dera - and give it to Mumm-Ra. It has ancient healing properties, but with Mumm-Ra's dark magic, has the ability to animate inanimate objects into terrible creatures. Mumm-Ra doesn't want to take the risk of handling such a powerful item, so he entrusts Vultureman to use it on the Thundercats by luring them first to the Baleful Swamp with a fake distress call. Lion-O, Kit and Snarfer answer the call and are attacked by an animated part of the swamp that takes the form of a snake. They crash into the deadly waters, which are poisonous if ingested, and Lion-O swallows some of it. He falls ill, leaving the Thunderkitten and Snarfer at the mercy of the Mutants who are closing in. Jaga tries to appear to Lion-O, but he's too sick to hear, so Jaga instead goes to Snarfer. Though Snarfer can't see him, he's able to sense what Jaga wants him to do. So when the Mutants come near, Snarfer tries to wrest the Totem from them - and succeeds. They're able to use the item to heal Lion-O in time for him to deal with Mumm-Ra as well. Together with the other Cats after he sends the signal up, they're able to eliminate the thread and emerge victorious, though the Totem is lost to the swamp. Back to top Looking over the Book of Omens, the 'Cats spy a picture of a chain with links that contain the likeness of all the Thundercats. They find out it's the fragile Chain of Loyalty and if in the wrong hands and broken, then the Thundercats would digress into fighting among themselves and no longer be loyal to Lion-O. They decide this is worth a trip to New Thundera, and all the original 'Cats head out. Mumm-Ra realizes what they're after so he takes the guise of snarf Egbert and offers to "help" them find the chain when they land on New Thundera. He's with the group that includes the Kittens and Lion-O on the Mountains of the Moon, and when it's found, Mumm-Ra grabs the chain and destroys it. Immediately, the Kittens start fighting with each other and soon turn on Lion-O. Elsewhere, Cheetara and Tygra start fighting - it's chaos. Lion-O goes around subduing his friends so they can't hurt each other or him, and gathers them in one spot. He's left with just Panthro to deal with, and just when it seems Panthro will finish off Lion-O. The real snarf Egbert arrives in time to save him, and Lion-O sends up the signal. It alone doesn't heal the Thundercats, but they're healed after it magically repairs the chain. Back to top While out in the Thunderstrike, which is piloted by Lynx-O, Lion-O and Tygra - with Snarf in tow - they're attacked by Alluro and Chilla on ice runners. Earlier the Lunies lured them out there with talk of how they'd hidden some Treasure of Thundera there - it was a trick, of course. The 'Cats crash into the Crystal Canyon, and all the big 'Cats have injuries with Lion-O being the most gravely injured. Tygra, even with a bum leg, goes after the Keystone which Lynx-O told him would have the power to heal them and is located in the canyon. Tygra gets the stone and uses it to heal his friends and the Thunderstrike, but become addicted to the stone's energy. The others are helpless to reason with Tygra and cannot separate him from the stone. The tiger becomes emaciated and weak, though he can't see that through the bloated confidence the stone affords. So when the Berbils are attacked by Lunies, Tygra sets off alone to fight them off. But Alluro knocks away the Keystone, taking it for himself, and leaving Tygra a hopeless heap of uselessness. Lion-O and Lynx-O show up but have a hard time against Alluro. The cat signal goes up and returns Tygra to his healthy state, and he is finally able to shatter the Keystone, which sends a now-addicted Alluro after its pieces. Back to top Vultureman and Alluro collaborate to invent a machine that can send a beam out that feeds fake psychic imagery to Cheetara, so that when they kidnap Panthro so he can modify Skytomb to reach New Thundera, she won't heed her vision of his capture. Cheetara sees horrible visions of things happening to her fellow 'Cats and allies, and ends up sending Lion-O on a series of wild goose rescue missions. Being wrong so often shakes Cheetara's confidence to the core and even Lion-O seems to lose faith in her. Now, when she gets a *real* vision of things gone wrong, she brushes the feeling off for fear of looking the fool again. Then, when those in the Feliner need her to guide them back safely to Third Earth, she's not even confident enought to punch in the right coordinates. Lynx-O gives her a big pep talk, and Cheetara really reaches for her inner strength and confidence to not only overcome the beam, but telekinetically break it and help free the Thundercats who really were captured. Afterward, use of her sixth sense no longer drains her as it had in the past. Back to top After trying to catnap the Thunderkittens, the Lunataks are captured themselves and it's decided they should be exiled to Exile Isle. They're not alone on the barren little planet - Captain Cracker is there. They do manage to get a distress signal out to a passing ship, which thanks to a giant bellows on the Isle, the vessel crashes in the foggy conditions. The ship is too damaged to use for flight, but the collision knocked the Isle out of orbit and the engines from the ship can be used to propel the planet toward Third Earth. What's worse is Snarfer crashes his ship onto Exile Isle as well. Lion-O decides to go up to the planet after realizing what's going on - but alone and without the Sword. Lion-O does get in a pinch thanks to a mechanical attacking palm tree, so he calls the Sword to him remotely. Disaster is eventually avoided and the Isle is put back in orbit with its captives. However, the Lunies are shown escaping in a makeshift vessel at episode's end. Back to top Panthro, while on a New Thundera mission, locates an ornate golden key he thinks is part of the Treasure. Meanwhile, Lion-O and Snarf are trying to figure out the Book of Omens when Lion-O tries to use sight beyond sight to decipher it. Instead of interpreting the book, the Sword draws Lion-O inside the Book to Snarf's horror. When Snarf tries to show Cheetara what happened, he too is pulled into the Book where he and Lion-O face the imposing Guardian of the Book - and when they can produce no "key" the Guardian demands, they're nearly roasted alive by the serpants standing guard. Mumm-Ra decides, having seen all this in his cauldron, now is a time to rid Third Earth of the Book and the Lord of the Thundercats. So he goes and swipes the book and Sword from Cheetara. By the time he returns to the Pyramid, Lion-O decides to call to the Book and it pulls he and Snarf out of it. Before backup arrives, Mumm-Ra traps Lion-O and Snarf in mummy wrappings so he can go into the Book despite Lion-O's warnings. After Cheetara and Kit arrive, Lion-O is free and decides he must save Mumm-Ra from a fiery fate. He goes back into the Book and rescues the mummy. They all return home and realize the Key Panthro found must go to the Book. Back to top The ASOE demand Mumm-Ra get his butt back to Thundera to continue looking for Treasure. They tell him that if he can get Cheetara to hold a piece of the shattered chest that held the treasure originally, she can sense where the contents are. He does as told and has his Thundera pyramid regenerated. He then waits for the Thundercats to fly over in the Feliner and causes them to crash. On this mission are all the original adult 'cats sans Lion-O, and Mumm-Ra grabs them and drops them in the Valley of Youth so that they once more become naive Thundercubs. Then Mumm-Ra takes the form of Lion-O so he can more easily boss the cubs around. Giving the young Cheetara a shard, she indeed leads them to a piece of the Treasure - the Mirror of Truth. In the meantime, Lion-O has seen what happened to the Feliner via the Sword and must think of a way to get to Thundera. He and Snarf go to the Mutants and ask them to fly them to Thundera in the RatStar - for pay, of course. The Mutants agree only because they want to ambush the pair in flight. They do and capture them for a bit, but Lion-O escapes by the time they reach Thundera and is able to intervene before Mumm-Ra can get his hands on the mirror. The mirror helps the cubs know which Lion-O to believe and the Sword restores them eventually to their adult forms. Afterward, the Feliner is repaired and the captured Mutants must ride back in the cargo bay. Back to top Some of the Cats are once again off in the Feliner heading to New Thundera - and the Lunies badly want to follow. Alluro thinks he's come up with a way to make Sky Tomb spaceworthy via a "booster juice" he came up with. But the super fuel is too powerful for Sky Tomb's engines and they find it must be dumped out in order to regain control of Sky Tomb. It's effect on the plant and animal life below has a curious effect, transforming a benign meadow into a towering and vicious jungle. The Lunies give the remaining formula to the Mutants to drop near Cats Lair. Pumyra and the Kittens are caught during a picnic outing in the thick of it, and Lion-O runs out of the Lair only to lose the Sword to a giant beetle. At the Tower of Omens, Snarf and Lynx-O detect the activity by the Lair and set out in the Tank to help. But they're intercepted by Mutants armed with Booster Juice and are captured and thrown into Castle Plun-Darr's dungeon. There, they free a mouse that ends up running into a puddle of dropped Booster Juice. The big mouse gives the Mutants chase, which allows Lynx-O and Snarf to escape and gather the discarded Juice packs so that they can analyze it in Vultureman's lab and hopefully, create an antidote. They fly out just in time to use the antidoe to save Lion-O and the others from becoming giant bug food. Back to top Mumm-Ra makes sure the Thundercats get a fake piece of the Treasure of Thundera he conjured up on their next outing. It's a locket with some sort of homing device on it that the Cats follow, only it leads them to a trap. They're trapped in a giant hole amid some ruins and the more they try to escape, the more perilous their situation gets. That is until Jaga reminds Lion-O to just use the Sword, which blasts open the lid on the hole they're in, and they can escape. Back to top When the Cats return from their latest Treasure hunt, they allow Snarf to hang onto a bracelet he took a shine to. Snarf soon realizes, however, that the bracelet grants him a hypnotic power of the Thundercats. He gets high on this power and soon ends up bossing around everyone, even Lion-O. Unfortunately, Mumm-Ra takes note and wants the bracelet for himself. He eventually gets the item from Snarf and is able to corral the Thundercats, ultimately imprisoning them inside the Pyramid. Guilt ridden, Snarf sets out to set them free. After pretending to be under the bracelet's spell, he tricks Mumm-Ra long enough for the Thunderkittens, who had been out at the time the others were taken, to help the others. Snarf waits til Mumm-Ra retires to take the Bracelet off his wrist which breaks the spell, while the kittens get the Sword to Lion-O who takes it from there. In the end, Mumm-Ra is the one imprisoned in the cell inside his Pyramid and Snarf apologizes for abusing his power over the Cats. Back to top Lion-O, Panthro and Snarf are on New Thundera, set to explore the Caverns of Cold for more treasure. Little do they know, but Mumm-Ra has planted deep-freezing crystals there laced with ThunderCat-nip. They're drawn to the crystals and frozen solid despite their thermal suits, and Snarf is frozen as well when he touches Lion-O. Back on Third Earth, the Lunies are *still* trying to devise a way to get Sky Tomb in space and on New Thundera. They've rigged exercise machines up to Sky Tomb's engines but they can't muster the power to give said engines a proper boost. So, they end up catching the Thundercats and forcing them work on the machines hoping Cheetara's super speed alone will give the desired lift. Eventually, the Thundercats are too much for the engines and they over power the engines, crashing Sky Tomb. They can then escape. Back on Thundera, Snarf manages to move his tail thanks to extra insulation there, and uses it to make sure Lion-O can use the Sword, which frees them. They return to Third Earth and each group clues the other in on each one's grand adventure. Back to top While he and Lion-O are hanging out near the wreckage of their old space ship, Snarf literally stumbles upon the Thunderscope. They discover it makes anything that's from Thundera glow and realize that it can be a valuable tool in finding the Treasure of Thundera. Mumm-Ra catches wind of the find and wants the scope for himself. He confronts Lion-O, and with the Sword of Plundarr, not only gets the scope but seemingly kills Lion-O. Jaga appears and breathes life back into the burnt out Eye of Thundera, which also brings Lion-O back. Lion-O did have the foresight to take a lens out of the scope, and so he and Snarf go to the Tower of Omens to ask Lynx-O what else he knows about the Scope. Mumm-Ra, realizing Lion-O must have the missing lens, goes back to get it with a few Lunies as back-up. They wrest the lens from Lion-O, but our hero follows Mumm-Ra back to the Pyramid. With the power of the Eye, he gets the lens and the scope. Later, he presents it to the others so that their Treasure missions will become easier - and the scope can decode the Book of Omens, too! Back to top Mumm-Ra is tipped off by the ASOE about the Jade Dragon, a trinket Jaga was entrusted to keep after he saved a samurai from the larger, animated version of the item, long ago. Jaga kept it among the Treasure, and Mumm-Ra now watches carefully as Lion-O and Cheetara dig for Treasure on New Thundera, hoping they find it. They do, and Mummsie casts a spell from his Pyramid that "activates" the dragon - it grows in sized and swallows the pair of Thundercats, then shrinks again. Hachiman, who had had a dream of this terrible event, got on his mechanical steed to come to the rescue. After dealing with Ma-Mutt, the samurai is sad to see he arrived too late. But, he decides to risk splitting the dragon down the middle to free the pair. It works, but the duo emerge small. Before Hachiman can do anything about that, Mumm-Ra shows up to fight with him. Lion-O goes to the Sword, which remained large as he wasn't wearing it at the time the Dragon swallowed him, and calls out the signal which saves Hachiman. It also restores Lion-O and Cheetara to their normal size and they help send Mumm-Ra on his way. The two halves of the Dragon are given to Kit to keep, and Hachiman slips away before they all have a chance to thank him. Back to top Captain Bragg arrives with his flying "circus train" at the Tower of Omens. He's really a bounty hunter looking to capture the Lunies and Mutants and ends up hypnotizing Kat and convincing him to run away with the circus and help him, so to speak. A series of stupid tricks traps the Mutants in the jail-cell like circus cars. By now, the Thundercats are in pursuit of the Train to try to get Kat back. But Kat and Bragg move on, duping the Lunies with equally strange tricks that they inexplicably fall for. However, even with the baddies behind bars, they manage to pull a fast one and get Bragg trapped in his own train with only Kat left to operate it - with disasterous results. Lion-O manages to board the train and take care of the bad guys and save Kat from a cruel demise, tied to the front of the Train. In the end, Lion-O agrees that Bragg may keep the naughty troublemakers and keep them in exile on a distant planet called Way Out Back - but that he must reform his deceptive ways. Back to top The ASOE have granted Mumm-Ra power like never before - and he transforms into the biggest, baddest and buffest Everliving form ever seen. But the catch is this - he has to finish all the Tcats by nightfall or else he's going to be exiled by the ASOE once and for all. In this powerful form, he goes around Third Earth and indeed disposes of the Tcats one by one - most of them floating about afterward in an Astral-type mist. Lion-O is the only one not exiled so - instead encased in molten lava. He still has the Sword and gets free. As night is falling, he faces off with the super Mumm-Ra and it looks like he'll fall in defeat again - but Mumm-Ra's time runs out and he's exiled. Lion-O then brings his friends back with the Sword of Omens and all celebrate the apparent demise of Mumm-Ra. Back to top The Thundercats decide that most of them will Return to Thundera to live and that Third Earth should be okay now with all their Allies joining together in a league. They level Mumm-ra's pyramid just to be safe, but they assume he's gone for good. Save for Tygra and Pumyra, who are left to man their outposts on Third Earth, the rest of the Cats take the Feliner and Thunderstrike to New Thundera. They quickly find a suitable spot and start to build a new Lair with the help of the snarfs. But, Mumm-Ra is not gone. The ASOE release him and bid that he go to New Thundera and destroy the Thundercats once and for all. He and Ma-Mutt get a tip from the ASOE about the gyroscope - an underground hunk of machinery that keeps New Thundera intact - and the Thunderian sorceress that guards it, Jagara. He takes the guise of Jaga hoping to trick Jagara into doing his will. After he puts a spell on her, she adjusted the scope to make the gravity all go nuts where the Lair is being built so that everything - snarfs, Thundercats, rocks and stones, start lifting off into space. The Sword ends up snapping Jagara out of the spell, but Mumm-Ra has taken the regulator she was using to control the gyroscope. She comes up with a temporary fix, but needs to recover that part or it's doom once more for Thundera. Back to top The Thundercats get a distress call from a Thunderian refugee about being trapped by someone named Two-Time in a place called Dome Down. So Lion-O and Cheetara, with Snarf, set out to investigate while Panthro and Bengali try to sort out the tremor issue. All the while, construction goes on for the new Lair. The trio ends up at the Churning Rocks, and thanks to Mumm-Ra summoning him, Grune shows up in the flesh to thwart them. He seems to have thrown Snarf to his death and breaks the Sword of Omens. Then Grune shackles the Thundercats to a rock, hoping that eventually the churning rocks will crush them. Upon awakening, they find Snarf survived and send him with the broken sword to try to find Bengali. But Snarf runs into a man named Char upon his flying furnace, and Char ends up re-forging the Sword - though he wants to keep it for himself. But once it is whole, the Thundercats feel it and Lion-O calls it to him. Lion-O is able to escape and free Cheetara, all in time to face Grune once more. But this time, the Sword vanquishes him back to his tomb on Third Earth - the Sword is now more powerful than ever. They meet Char and make friends of sorts. Unbeknownst to them, Jagara still struggles to make a suitable makeshift regulator for the gyroscope and Mumm-Ra ends the episode by bragging that he has it in his possession. Back to top The Lair is almost complete to Mumm-Ra's dismay so he decides he must pay Jagara another visit. Meanwhile, the Cats go out looking once more for the source of the refugee distress call and Lion-O test drives their latest toy, the Whisker. It finds Dome Down and after Lion-O faces off with Two-Time, he frees the family of refugees. Cheetara and Lynx-O arrive to inform Lion-O that while they were out, they saw Mumm-Ra at the Churning Rocks. They're amazed he's back but soon realize he must be behind all the tremors. So Lion-O's next stop is the Great Beneath, below the Churning Rocks. He was shown beforehand that "Jaga" is really Mumm-Ra and after some work, convinces Jagara that he tells the truth. They force Mumm-Ra's retreat but the evil one is confident that without the regulator it's only a matter of time before they're doomed. Back to top Tired out from the last battle, Mumm-Ra sends Ma-Mutt out in space to intercept Bragg's Circus train - and free the Mutants. This, so the Mutants can go rid Third Earth of the other two Thundercats. After impersonating Mandora, Ma-Mutt succeeds and the Mutants are once again prowling Third Earth. But instead of going to the Lair or Tower, they attack Snowman on Hook Mountain. This draws the Thundercats who eventually put the Mutants back in their place. On New Thundera, attempts to come up with an alternate regulator fail, so a quick but temporary fix has to remain in place. But one of the last tremors caused the near-completed Lair to fall apart, and Snarf is trapped under a large piece. Lion-O, in an amazing feat of strength, frees his friend who only suffers minor injuries. It's agreed that they have to get that regulator back. But then Mumm-Ra had just melted it inside his cauldron... Back to top There's talk of just abandoning New Thundera, but the refugees they found - which include Torr - convince the Cats to stay. Thundera is their home and there are other refugees trying to return so they have to save the planet. More violent tremors make Lion-O determined to hault this gyroscope tampering business once and for all. Mumm-Ra, who is already back in the Great Beneath messing with Jagara and the scope, tries to thwart the Cats efforts, but the Sword gets Lion-O down there to face off. He's not too successful, even with the others brought in to help, as Mumm-Ra uses the Sword of Plun-Darr to send the whole gyroscope mechanism plunging into the chasm below it. But then the Sword becomes the gyroscope and everyone is saved. Mumm-Ra, having left after he dropped the real gyroscope figuring his job was done, is incensed to see the Thundercats will survive. The ASOE are even more angry with Mumm-Ra and punish him for failing. In the end, Panthro and Bengali engineer a new gyroscope so all is well. Back to top A capsule arrives on New Thundera and it contains a lone Thunderian child named Leah. She lands in the Forest of Darkness, an apparent result of her parents' main ship having some sort of emergency, and thus everyone evacuating in pods. Mumm-Ra notices her arrival before the Cats can track it, and goes to her to offer comfort and give her a doll. A doll that holds the Mirror Wraith, a beast Mumm-Ra hope will do his bidding once she and it are inside the new Lair. The Thundercats rescue Leah and promise to try to find her parents. Meanwhile, she gets to stay at the Lair where her doll comes to life and wreaks havoc by using the mirrors in the Lair to travel around. Leah is too scared to say anything at first, but finally confesses when things get serious. Lion-O tries to confront the wraith but it's Snarf's quick thinking about covering the mirrors that saves the day. In the end, Leah is reunited with her parents and learns not to keep secrets for bad guys. Back to top While digging a well, the Thunderkittens not only unleash a torrent of flood waters but a strange creature called the Frogman. He acts friendly to the Kittens who trust him, but he's really an old enemy Jaga exiled long ago. Lion-O is tipped off to this but by the time he arrives, the Kittens are already betrayed by Frogman and hanging in the Churning Rocks with perilous flying boulders threatening their lives. They're rescued, but there's the matter of the Lair which is falling apart in the flood with Snarf inside. But Frogman and his exploding lilypads keeps them from getting too close to the Lair, so Lion-O has them fly out to the eastern sea. There, tornadoes are present and Lion-O has Jagara help him harness one and take it back to the flood waters. The tornado cleans up the flood, grabs Frogman, and seals back up the leaking well. Snarf and the Lair are saved, but there's a big muddy mess to clean up. Back to top The Golden Sphere of Seti is found first by the Thunderkittens. Touching it makes one do anything to keep it, and soon Char and Mumm-Ra are in the mix as coveting the sphere as well. Mumm-Ra wins out and the sphere gives him 4 times his normal strength. He easily holds off the Thundercats and breaks the Sword of Omens in the process. The 'Cats agree to fix Charr's flying furnace if he re-forges the Sword for them as Mumm-Ra must be stopped. However, he has decided he doesn't need the ASOE anymore, which doesn't sit well with them. They lock him out of his pyramid and dispose of the sphere. Only then do they let him back in. Back to top To help the worn out Jagara cope with 24/7 gyroscope maitenance, a specialist robot named Screw Loose is brought in. Mumm-Ra sees this as an opportunity to try to get rid of the Thundercats by messing with the robot's programming, while in the guise of Panthro. This causes the thing to go intermittantly hay-wire and damage rather than maintain the gyroscope. After a time, they figure out what's going on and that's when Mumm-ra steps in to do battle with Lion-O. At one point their swords do battle on their own. Finally, the Sword of Omens undoes Mumm-Ra's tampering of Screw Loose and the mummy leaves in defeat. The gyroscope is fixed, too. Back to top More refugee capsules are located, but supplies of Thundrillium are low and so some of the Cats set out to find a deposit so that they can run the Feliner and other things, and bring these refugees in. Bengali and Snarfer go into a cave and set off explosive Thunderstone, which leaves them trapped in a cave-in. Lion-O and Snarf, who were outside the cave, want to help but fear using the sword to blast them out. They need the Thundertank but it's low on fuel, so they have to continue to mine Thundrillium. While they're finding and mining a deposit, Mumm-Ra gets into the act by having the ASOE summon renowned alchemist Malcar. But Malcar comes to him old, and that won't do. So Mumm-Ra sends him to the Valley of Youth to be brought back to his prime. Afterward, Malcar appears where Lion-O and Snarf are and changes the Thundrillium to Thundrainium. Lion-O fades fast, and Jaga steps in to use the Sword to revert the mineral back to Thundrillium. That changes Malcar back to an old man, so Mumm-Ra ships him back to the youth valley. But, Jaga pops by the Pyramid to distract/fight Mumm-Ra and Malcar is left there too long - he's an infant, and no use to Mumm-Ra now. Lion-O, in the meantime, got the Tank going and rescues his friends. Back at the Lair, the refugees have been brought in and the young Thunderian couple agree to adopt baby Malcar. Back to top A rare alignment of the planets means unprecedented drought for Thundera - and Mumm-Ra hopes the end of the Thundercats. Everyone is desperate for water, including a big flying lizard that becomes hazardous in its rage. But Panthro and Snarf venture out to find water, and find a swamp still full. But its waters are magical and they soon find out the nature of it - they can't stop laughing once they fall in. Since they're rendered useless by the pond water, Lion-O and Bengali have to figure out what to do. First, Lion-O makes it rain by using the Sword's power. Then he and Bengali fly to the caverns of cold to melt some ice. Mumm-Ra tries to stop them but ends up getting shot with magical pond water, and goes laughing downstream in the torrent. Back to top |
