Lawrence Dukore & Lee Schneider Reveiwed by: Purrsia ![]() Everyone - Mumm-Ra, the Mutants, and the ThunderCats - is tracking an alien space craft as it enters Third Earth's atmosphere. The catch is, the ship holds what amounts to a glorified cannonball (but oooooh, it's so shiny!) that has enough power to destroy Third Earth if the ship should crash. So as Lion-O and Panthro set out in the Feliner to intercept the un-manned vessel, Mumm-Ra enlists the help of the Mutants to thwart them. Before the Feliner takes off, Jackalman uses the darkness of night as a cover while he stows aboard in the Feliner's cargo hold. While the Feliner pulls the ship in safely using a tractor beam, Jackalman jumps aboard the alien craft and snatches the coveted black sphere. Problem is, when they land not only do Lion-O and Panthro notice Jackalman making off with the device but so does a very ticked Mumm-Ra. Mumm-Ra does a fly-by and scoops Jackalman up before the ThunderCats can wrest the device from him. Lion-O signals the others and shortly thereafter they're off to the Black Pyramid. Slithe isn't going to just stand around and let Mumm-Ra take such power for himself - plus he'd like to kick Jackalman in the ass for trying to do the same. You can see where this is going, I'm sure. By the time everyone converges on the Pyramid, Mumm-Ra has taken the sphere. He climbs to the top of the Pyramid to make his stand. Mumm-Ra easily bats the Mutants away, but the ThunderCats are another story. Watching them fight their way up the steep Pyramid walls makes the episode worth watching IMHO. While the others are hitting Mumm-Ra literally from all sides, the poor mummy suffers the indignanty of being toppled by a Snarf tail. This was almost a fatal error on Snarf's part as Mumm-Ra drops the sphere as he falls. Luckily, Panthro makes an excellent catch. And file this under recycled plot resolutions, but Mumm-Ra is defeated when he tries to take the sphere from Panthro and - you guessed it - sees his own reflection. So...what do the ThunderCats do with the mighty sphere? Put it back in the alien craft, launch it into space and detonate it. Man, they're no fun :( I would have waited til Snarf woke up one night complaining of his flaring hemmorhoids and convince him in his groggy state that the sphere was a super-powerful suppository - THEN blown it up. It's all about literally getting more bang for your buck but nobody's perfect ;) For those of you keeping track, this is the third episode in a row that dummy, erm I mean mummy, defeated himself with shiny objects. WTF?? Anonymous: Why does Mumm-Ra fall down the pyramid helplessly when he can fly?
