Stephen Perry Reviewed by: Purrsia ![]() The Mutants do their best to ambush the Thundercats with a Thundrainium cannon, but the darn Sword warns the Tank ridin' felines in time. The attack fails, culminating in Slithe nearly going over a cliff along with his nose-diver. The Thundercats, being the goody-goodies they are, save him. Slithe shows his 'thanks' by whapping Lion-O, Cheetara, and Panthro with his tail, which sends them all over the edge. Thanks to the Claw Shield, they avert disaster. Returning to Castle Plundarr, Slithe has to endure Vultureman's rantings. So angry at their repeated failures, Vultureman activates a device that will make everything he ever invented (read: darn near everything) self-destruct. At a loss to how they'll defeat the Thundercats with no ships or modern weapons, Slithe turns to Mumm-Ra for help. Mumm-Ra sends an energy creature of some sort to short circuit the Lair's defenses and weld the Sword chamber door shut. Lion-O tries to call the Sword to his hand, but due to the strength of material the door is made from, the Sword simply cannot penetrate it. Panthro even tries to cut the door open with a blow torch to no avail. The 'Cats are defenseless. Their scanners out, Cheetara takes a stick and goes out to the Lair courtyard to stand watch. She's soon confronted by Slithe, who with the help of his henchmen Jackalman and Monkian, capture her. Meanwhile, Snarf, Lion-O and Panthro are in the Council Chamber trying to figure out how the heck to get to their weapons. Snarf laments that the only thing that can get in there is air, which inspires Panthro to declare his genius - the air duct is how they'll get in! It's decided that Snarf is small enough to fit. Shortly after that plan is hatched, Panthro heads out to relieve Cheetara of watch duty but soon finds himself ambushed and captured by the Mutants as well. He and Cheetara are now both chained in the dungeons of Castle Plundarr. The Mutants aren't done however, and get inside the Lair to take out Lion-O. They observe Snarf going into the duct and send Jackalman, being the slimmest of the group, after him. Snarf realizes he's being followed and, despite increasing cobwebs and narrowing ducts, presses on desperately. He reaches the Sword chamber first, and when Jackalman pokes his head out of the duct to see Snarf brandishing the Sword, he high-tails it. Meanwhile, Lion-O goes down to the hangar to check on his friends only to have Slith and Monkian try to ambush him. Lion-O makes short work of them, but all is not won for Mumm-Ra arrives. He gives Lion-O a run for his money. That is until Snarf shows up with the Sword in his mouth and chasing a terrified Jackalman. Snarf manages to get the Sword in Lion-O's hand and with one battle cry, the Eye opens and unseals the Sword Chamber in addition to giving Cheetara and Panthro the strength to break their bonds. Of course, they arrive and scare the Mutants and Mumm-Ra off. Later, Tygra and the Kittens return in the Feliner having missed all the fun. The Sword's power worked for Snarf by sending out little blasts of energy aimed at Jackalman's retreating bum. Interesting. Shay Leona: I love the part at the end when Lion-o tells Snarf that he's gained weight since they've been on 3rd Earth. HILARIOUS! PKELL: Two comedic moments that make this episode stand out: 1) Vultureman's nit fit at the begginning of the episode when he decides to just blow everything up, 2) Mumm-Ra & Lion-O fighting only to be interupted by Snarf chasing Jackalman with the Sword of Omens. Pretty funny stuff. I really liked the idea for the episode. The TCats weaponary was a major advantage they had over the Mutants and it was great to see a plan directly centered on taking it away from them. Its a good fun episode, but I don't understand why the Mutants went to all the trouble of taking Panthro and Cheetara all the way to Castle Plundarr and back again on seperate trips. Seemed like kind of a waste of time and effort.
