Great Holy Jaga! This 'sode rawks!!

Lion-O is still stuck in the boiling sea, with Snarf watching in dismay on shore. Suddenly, Panthro arrives in the new Thunderclaw and attacks the Berzerkers’ ship. The Berzerkers retreat in their ship with the captured Thunderians while Panthro pulls Lion-O out of the water with the Thunderclaw’s claws. Lion-O is not in that bad of shape. Lion-O, Panthro, and Snarf all suspect that Mumm-Ra is behind the plot to capture the Thunderians (Duh, who else would it be?). Panthro offers to stay with Lion-O at the beach while he recovers from the heat and orders Snarf to run back to the Lair to tell the others what has happened.

Meanwhile, the Berzerkers dock their ship somewhere else on Third Earth where they meet Slithe, Monkian, and Jackalman, who are to bring the three Thunderians (no mention of the two Berbils) to Mumm-Ra. The Mutants try to cheat the Berzerkers out of the gold that Mumm-Ra was to pay them for their service, which enrages the Berzerkers and causes a heated argument between the two factions. The Thunderians try to escape during the squabbling, but Bengali is captured by Slithe and Hammerhand and Lynx-O and Pumyra surrender so no harm will come to their friend.

Elsewhere, Snarf is still running to Cats’ Lair when he is captured by Ratar-O and Vultureman on the Rat Star. On the beach, Lion-O and Panthro get a warning from the sword and Lion-O sees the capture of Snarf using sight-beyond-sight. Panthro flies Lion-O to the Rat Star aboard the Thunderclaw and Lion-O orders his friend to drop him off on the ship and to go back to the Lair without him to warn the others. Ratar-O sees Lion-O clinging to the ship on the telescreen and Vultureman activates a magnet and the sword leaps from Lion-O’s hands and sticks to the underbelly of the Rat Star. Inside the Rat Star, the shackled Snarf bites the cable that powers the magnet and the sword is free. However, Ratar-O makes Lion-O pay for Snarf’s interference and orders Vultureman to tilt the Rat Star so Lion-O will fall off and land on Hook Mountain.

Meanwhile, the Mutants have arrived at Mumm-Ra’s pyramid with the captured Thunderians. He reveals that instead of just keeping the prisoners at the pyramid with him, they are to be sent to Fire Rock Mountain, a tall, rocky mountain that is surrounded by Thundrainium. Mumm-Ra tells the Thunderians that if the Thundercats go to FRM in an attempt to rescue them, the Thundrainium will make them as weak as new-born kittens. The Mutants are then dismissed and Mumm-Ra calls in Captain Shiner and his crew to fly the prisoners to FRM…..for a hefty price, of course, since Shiner is so damn expensive.

At Cats’ Lair, Panthro and the others are worried about the whereabouts of Lion-O, since they don’t know how his mission to rescue Snarf from Ratar-O and Vultureman went. Panthro, Tygra, and Cheetara then head out in the Thundertank, Hovercat, and Thunderclaw to search for their missing leader. On Captain Shiner’s ship, the Vertis, the three Thunderians manage to free themselves from their chains and try to take over Shiner’s ship, but their efforts are proven to be futile as they arrive at FRM and the red Thundrainium fumes knock them out cold. Shiner and his crew exit the ship with the unconcious Thunderians at the entrance of the cave at FRM, but won’t do anymore until Slithe and the Mutants arrive to take over from there.

At Hook Mountain, Lion-O is discovered burried face-down and unconcious in the snow by Snowman and Snowmeow. Snowman quickly covers up the now blue-colored cat to help him warm up and regain his normal color. Lion-O awakes and is grateful for the help. Slithe and the Mutants are passing by from a distance and spot Lion-O and Snowman together and decide to attack them before they are to rendevous with Captain Shiner at FRM. Monkian introduces the Mutants’ newest vehicle, the Fist-Pounder (their version of the Thundertank). The episode ends with one of the Fist-Pounder’s fists about to crush Lion-O.

Canon Facts of Note:

The Mutants get to debut a new toy, the Fist Pounder. Also, this ep marks a rare re-appearance for Captain Shiner and his mercenary crew of aliens. Guess he repaired the Vertis after it was smashed to hell in the black hole, eh?
