Chris Trengove Reviewed by: Purrsia ![]() In this episode, Lion-O and Snarf see the others off who usually man the Lair with him. They are boarding the Feliner for some outerspace mission. This leaves just Lion-O and Snarf to keep watch over Third Earth. Bored at the Lair, Snard decides to go collect candy fruit so the two of them can "keep up their strength". This activity does not go unnoticed by a certain decrepit mummy. He sends his faithful pooch, Ma-Mutt, to capture Snarf. It's relatively easy considering how bumbling Snarf can be. In a move reminiscent of the "Shifter", Mumm-Ra actually switches the bodily forms of Snarf and Ma-Mutt. He also fills "Snarf's" bag full of poison candy fruit as part of his plan. Snarf lays on the Pyramid floor in Ma-Mutt's body helplessly as the plan is put into motion. When "Snarf" arrives at the Lair, Lion-O notices that it's taken him a long time to return and that his voice sounds funny. Snarf assures him that the time was due to him eating too much candy fruit and not feeling so good as a result - which also explains the voice. Then he badgers Lion-O into eating a candy fruit NOW. Lion-O obliges, only to be shocked to realize "Snarf" drugged him. With Lion-O out, "Snarf" gets turns on the Lair search lights to let Mumm-Ra know he's in control. Mumm-Ra, seeing the signal, transforms and heads to the Lair, leaving "Ma-Mutt" chained at the Pyramid. While Mumm-ra lays the smackdown on a recently awakened Lion-O, "Ma-Mutt" is trying to think of a way to help. In the meantime at the Tower, Snarfer awakes from a bad dream that his uncle turned into a dog. He asks Lynx-O and the others to call the Lair to make sure everything is ok. Of course, they get the faux "Snarf" on the line and seem reassured at first. But the odd sound of his voice causes them to want to check it out. Bengali, Pumyra and Snarfer arrive as Mumm-Ra is laying waste to the Lair inside. He pauses in his distruction to trip them up as they cross the draw bridge which causes Bengali and Pumyra to fall into the surrounding gorge - luckily, Pumyra's sling weapon stops their fall. Snarfer made the bridge but Mumm-ra sends out "Snarf" to dispose of him. "Snarf" changes back into the real Ma-Mutt and gives Snarfer a run for his money. Meanwhile, Lion-O wakes up in the storage room Mumm-ra tossed him in. He calls the Sword to him, and it penetrates the door. Lion-O goes to confront Mumm-Ra who laments not offing him when he had the chance - duh! Must be the fact that they remove the brain in the mummification process, right? Anyway, Lion-O still gets his ass kicked pretty good, so he calls for help. The insignia rises up out of Mumm-Ra's cauldron to alert the real Snarf, who gets antsy about coming to Lion-O's aid. Out of desperation, he uses Mumm-Ra's transformation spell and incredibly, the ASOE turn him into a super-huge, buff form of a snarf called Snarf-Ra. He flies to the Lair, rescues Bengali and Pumyra so they can help Snarfer. Snarf-Ra goes on to confront Mumm-Ra and matches him in powers and strength. Of course, he defeats the mummy and all is well. In the end, Snarf is tired of being something he's not, and asks Lion-O to restore him to his former self. Lion-O successfully uses the Sword to grant Snarf's wish. If it wasn't for some worthwhile humor, I'd have flunked this ep. We're "treated" to Snarf singing the Candy Fruit Song - something I could have easily lived my life without hearing lol Add this to the littany of things that makes Snarfs special - psychic dreams *groan* Apparently, the ASOE are dumb enough to grant their powers to anyone who says the magic words. Give me a break. "The 'Cats are away, so we shall play." - Mumm-ra. "I will challenge the Lord of the Thundercats fist to fist. I will trample all over him!" - Mumm-ra, a quote that somehow brought "These Boots Are Made for Walking" to my head. "Without your friends, you are a pathetic opponent, Lion-O." - Mumm-ra. "So, the upstart Thundercats are sticking their noses in. Well, we'll singe their whiskers." - Mumm-ra's reaction to the Tower 'Cats arrival at the Lair. "Lion-O! I should have destroyed you when you were at my mercy." - Mumm-ra, stating what fans often wonder in situations like these. "Ancient Spirits of Evil, transform this canine form to Snarf-Ra, the everliving!" - Snarf's variation on Mumm-Ra's transformation spell. comment system disabled temporarily thanks to spam happy assholes!
