Kimberly Morris Reviewed by: Purrsia ![]() This one opens with Mumm-Ra cackling away in his Pyramid. Why the giddiness? The once a century total eclipse approaches, which means any spell Mumm-Ra may cast during the eclipse will have its effects linger until the next eclipse. Who wants to bet he casts a curse that'll effect the ThunderCats? Indeed, this is the plan and Mumm-Ra dubs it the "Day of Decay". Basically, the spell turns most of the Tcats' mechanical things to a rusty heap and stone structures to crumble, which will spell ruin for all the Tcats vehicles and fortresses. Once they are helpless without shelter or vehicles, Mumm-Ra will send in the Mutants and Lunies to finish them off. At the Lair, Panthro and Lion-O are finishing up some routine matainence in the control room while also preparing to monitor the eclipse phenomenon, while Cheetara and Tygra watch the eclipse from the Lair courtyard. As the moon covers the sun, Cheetara and Tygra are alarmed to witness a bizarre 'weather disturbance'. Inside, Panthro and Lion-O are bewildered when recently repaired items start to fall apart around them. Before they can figure out what's happening, the Berbils call for help because the Mutants are attacking their village. So off Lion-O and Panthro go to assist, in the ThunderTank. The Mutants intercept them on the way to the Village and the 'Cats soon find out the Tank isn't performing well. They finally have no choice but to duck for cover into a cave. The Mutants think they have them trapped, but the ThunderTank holds up long enough to escape, thanks to a Thundrillium boost Panthro gave it. However, as they speed toward the village, Panthro realizes he can't slow down. They plow through the Village, nearly mowing down some Berbils on the way and only stop when they crash into some trees. Panthro is mystified as to why the Tank's parts appear to be corroded and in poor repair. Lion-O figures he can contact the Lair and have Cheetara and Tygra bring them the parts needed to repair the Tank. Trouble is, they have their own problems. Not only are they trying to figure out why basic functions aren't working in the Lair, but the Lunies arrive in the Lunattacker to add to their troubles. The 'Cats manage to lose the two Lunies - Red Eye and Tug Mug in the forest - and rush back to the Lair to try to figure out why it's not functioning right. Back at the Village, Lion-O's attempts to contact the Lair are fruitless. Then the Sword signals danger, and Lion-O sees the Lair is under attack once again by the Lunies and the fortress is crumbling. Concluding that all this decay isn't logical, he decides Mumm-Ra is at the root of it and decides to go to the Pyramid to settle it. When he arrives, Mumm-Ra isn't around, but the Sword literally points him to the inscription about the eclipse on the wall and then Mumm-Ra appears and confirms what he just read. As the Lair crumbles to dust, Lion-O decides he can't wait another 100 years and tries to "create his own eclipse". Though Mumm-Ra tries to stop him, Lion-O uses the Sword and its insignia to block out the sun and in doing so, all the damage from the spell is reversed. How convenient. Phoebe: "As the Lair crumbles to dust, Lion-O decides he can't wait another 100 years and tries to "create his own eclipse". "

- ... yay for playing God there Lion-O... yay. Marc: The ultimate Ubertool ending hahaha leppardra: I enjoyed this story. An evil magic spell cast during a total eclipse of the sun, and reversed by good magic, is a common theme in fantasy stories. So it's no surprise that Lion-O uses the Sword of Omens to create a counter-eclipse that halts Mumm-Ra's spell in its tracks before Cats' Lair is completely decimated. The Sword as uber-tool? Hey, I'll take that over a crumbling world any day! And I really must wonder if the Tower of Omens was also crumbling during Mumm-Ra's eclipse. You'd think so. Mumm-Ra would have wanted to eliminate the 'Cats in both places, not just at the Lair. Caswin: I have to admit, that was one of the more halfway plausible Sword of Omens saves... vacuum pump: Products include:vacuum pump hvac, aircraft vacuum pump, auto vacuum pump.
