Perhap'n the staff indulged in too much silky fruit - this sode be trippy...

Mumm-Ra and Lion-O do battle in the field, while the little ‘Cats watch in the Feliner. They then turn on the Feliner’s headlights and Mumm-Ra and Ma-Mutt scram while the scramming’s good. Afterward, Lion-O sends the little ‘Cats and little Snarfer on their way to Third Earth to rescue their friends while he and Snarf remain on Thundera to try and defeat Mumm-Ra. The little ‘Cats leave and Lion-O and little Snarf are now on their own.

On Third Earth, the Lunatacs have taken Sky Tomb to Hook Mountain, and are forcing the Thundernewbs, Thunderkittens, and Berbils to work in the Thundrillium mine at the bottom of the mountain. While they are hard at work, Wilykat and Wilykit are whispered to by Snowman and Snowmeow. Snowman pulls them aside and uses his axe to free the two kids from their chains. Snowman then takes the pair up to his castle and shows them on his snowdome that a ship is headed for Third Earth, and the kids assume that the Thundercats are returning in the Feliner to help them. Later, in Sky Tomb, Alluro and Tug Mug notice that the Thunderkittens are missing after they’ve rounded up all the slaves and left Hook Mountain. The pair then decide to just lie to Luna and say that they fell down a mine shaft or something.

Back on New Thundera, Mumm-Ra gets fed up with trying to decifer the Book Of Omens and tosses it aside for the time being. When he goes to rest in his sarcofigus for awhile, it seems as though the ASOE are actually watching him. Meanwhile, Lion-O and Snarf decide to go to Mumm-Ra’s pyramid in one last attempt to defeat him and stop him from getting the Treasure of Thundera.

Back on Third Earth, the Feliner arrives on the planet and Wilykit and Wilykat are there to meet it. The Thunderkittens are shocked to find that Panthro, Tygra, Cheetara, and Snarfer are now the same ages as they are. The 4 little ‘Cats then fill their friends in on what happened and that Lion-O and Snarf stayed behind on Thundera. Kit and Kat then tell of how the Lunatacs captured Lynx-O and the others and are forcing them to mine for Thundrillium. The group then decides to attempt a journey in the Feliner through the Forest Of Mists to get to Dark Side.

Back on Thundera, Mumm-Ra’s out of his sarcofigus and back at it again with the book. He gets fed up enough that he asks the ASOE to help him decifer what the book says. Instead, the ASOE COME TO LIFE AND TALK TO MUMM-RA!!!!! Their images appear to Mumm-Ra in the cauldron and they basically tell Mumm-Ra that he better not f**k this plan up, or they’ll be deeply p**sed. They then tell Mumm-Ra that when the time comes, they’ll make him powerful enough to crush the Thundercats. They then inject Mumm-Ra with evil rays and litterally shoot him back into his sarcofigus to rest up for the fight.

On Third Earth, the ‘Cats go to the Forests Of Mists in the Feliner and try to fly through with their new ‘Cats Eyes goggles that were built before the trip to New Thundera. However, the goggles malfunction and the group begins to crazily fly all over the place. Back on Thundera, Lion-O and Snarf have made it to Mumm-Ra’s pyramid and go inside. While they do, the ASOE statues grab Mumm-Ra and put him into the cauldron, which somehow makes his Ever-Living form bigger and stronger than it’s ever been. When Lion-O and Snarf make their way into the sarcofigus room, Mumm-Ra is nowhere to be found. Just then, the sword gives out it’s warning signal and Lion-O uses the sight beyond sight to see the Thundercubs’ disasterous flight through the Forest Of Mists and realizes that they’re going to crash. Mumm-Ra then appears out of the cauldon in his new hulking Ever-Living form and attacks Lion-O and Snarf with the Sword of Plun-Darr.

During the battle, Ma-Mutt jumps Snarf, but Snarf uses the magic flute to bring Ma-Mutt under his control. Snarf then has Ma-Mutt retrieve the Book of Omens for him while Lion-O and Mumm-Ra continue to fight. On Third Earth, the Thunder-littles crash the Feliner, but thanks to Cheetara’s sixth sense, they manage to walk to the other side of the forest and arrive in Dark Side. The group then breaks into Sky Tomb and manages to short out the power systems, leaving the whole vessel without electricity. They then free Lynx-O, Bengali, Pumyra, and the Berbils and attempt to find their way out of Sky Tomb.

Back on Thundera, Lion-O gets the upper hand on Mumm-Ra and throws him into the cauldron. Just then, the pyramid begins to fall apart and Lion-O and Snarf make their retreat. Meanwhile, Slithe and Vultureman see the pyramid crumbling and realize that now would be a good time to retreat back to Third Earth. As soon as Lion-O and Snarf get outside the pyramid, Snarf requests that they go back and rescue Ma-Mutt, since Snarf put him in a trance and feels guilty for leaving him like that…for some stupid reason. The two then go back inside the crumbling pyramid and grab Ma-Mutt and bring him back outside. The sword goes off again for Lion-O and this time he sees that the Thundercubs have rescued Lynx-O and the others, but that the Lunatacs are closing in on them as they try to navigate through Sky Tomb. Lion-O then plays the magic flute and has Ma-Mutt show him how he and Mumm-Ra got to Thundera in the first place. Ma-Mutt then takes Lion-O to where the time and space machine is and Lion-O, Snarf, and Ma-Mutt travel in the device back to Third Earth.

On Third Earth, the Thundercats manage to escape from Sky Tomb, but the Lunatacs have cut off their escape route. They get ready to go in for the kill, but just then, the space travel device appears. Lion-O exits it and blasts the cliff the Lunatacs are standing on with the sword, causing them to fall into the river below. Later, Lion-O and all the Thundercats arrive at the Cave Of Time. Lion-O tells Panthro, Tygra, Cheetara, Snarf, and Snarfer to go inside to restore them to their rightful age, but not to stay in too long, unless they want to look like Lynx-O. The group goes in the cave and come back out as their adult selves and all is well. Meanwhile, Mumm-Ra arrives back in his pyramid on Third Earth to wait for Ma-Mutt.

Final Commentary: Some fans think that bringing back Thundera was a bad move on the writers’ part, and I whole-heartedly agree. To me, the destruction of Thundera was a way to teach kids that you have hard times in life and that things (and people) die. To me, bringing back Thundera is like telling kids that nothing bad that happens ever lasts forever, which we all know just isn’t true. However, I do like the whole story arc with the Treasure Of Thundera that will continue to play out over the next 15 episodes. Plus, that Sword of Plun-Darr kicks serious ass and is my favorite weapon in the whole Thundercats canon. :)

Canon Facts of Note:

We get to see the ASOE take a unique form and actually talk to Mumm-Ra.
Also I believe this is the first time we get to see the big, bad super charged Everliving Mumm-Ra in action.

Purrsia's Two Cents:

Agreed about Thundera making a return...plus this opens the door for leaving some characters behind on Third Earth later and that just sucked.
Also, when Snarf played the flute to hypnotize Ma-Mutt, how come it didn't put him in a trance too? lol
Lastly, this episode has one of the darn best fight scenes between Lion-O and Mumm-Ra in the whole series IMHO.

leppardra: I have no problem with Thundera reforming and the 'Cats deciding to go home after it does; they're from that world originally. If they had been Third Earth natives, it would have been different. I didn't like it either when Tygra and Pumyra stayed behind, but, those were the breaks. Oh, yeah, I really dug that fight scene between Lion-O and UberMumm-Ra! The funniest scene to me in this final "ThunderCubs" installment is Young Snarf insisting that he and Lion-O save the entranced Ma-Mutt from Mumm-Ra's collapsing pyramid. Lion-O's squawk of "What??" is priceless; I crack up every time I hear it! And, of course, I noted, when the ThunderCubs were aged back to adults ThunderCats again, they were greeted by their comrades' happy cheers, only to have the camera cut away when the hugs started. Talk about cowardice!

leppardra: The heroics of WilyKat, WilyKit, and the ThunderCubs have led me to christen this episode "ThunderCub Scouts". Hey, I couldn't resist, and there's no need to explain why!
