A
Aluro +
Alliance
Evil (Lunatak)
Description
Wield's a psych club and the sexy power of persuasion.
Other Information
Luna may be the leader of the Luna-Taks, but Aluro should be. Like the others, he hails from the Moons of Plun-Darr and came about during the
"Mumm-Ra Lives!" 5 part series.
* I went with the one 'l' spelling, even though the French Encyclopedia, where the pic is from, has two. This is because US based canon materials I've seen spell his name with a single letter, and being an American show, deemed it more 'official'.
Amok +
Alliance
Evil (Lunatak)
Description
Amok is a dumb brute, plain and simple. Dumb as a boulder, but could split one in two with hardly an effort. He's Luna's minion, dutifully toting the grumpy Lunie around where her own stubby legs won't take her. He's also got a weird affinity for candy. Amok is to candy as Homer Simpson is to donuts.
Other Information
Actually got Luna to apologize to him in the episode
"Mumm-Rana's Belt"!
Amortus
Alliance
Evil
Description
Amortus, who hails from the land of no return (on New Thundera), is essentially a blob with tentacles the touch of which leaves his victims solid stone. He failed to destroy Lynx-O and was banished by Mumm-Ra to the Netherworld for all time. With his final defeat, the Land of No Return was no more as well.
Apparently, before that Amortus's feud with Thunderians went far back in their history.
Other Information
Featured in the episode
"Touch of Amortus" - thankfully, his only appearance.
Ancient Spirits of Evil (ASOE) +
Alliance
Evil (Third Earth)
Description
Their powers channeled through four statue idols in the Black Pyramid, Mumm-Ra calls out to these evil spirits to grant him power to defeat various enemies.
Other Information
They sometimes speak to Mumm-Ra from his cauldron, and sound suspiciously like Panthro. Sometimes they're referred to by fans with the acronym ASOE.
Ariettabird +
Alliance
Good (Third Earth)
Description
A shimmering, peacock-like bird, it was an endangered yet endearing creature -- thanks in large part to its beautiful song. And that was also exactly why selfish Queen Tatara wanted it all to herself.
Other Information
Featured in the
"Crystal Queen".

Ben-Gali +

Other Information
Debuted in
"ThunderCats Ho!" Series; growls when he talks. Weird.
Berbils +
Alliance
Good (Third Earther)
Description
Little robotic bears that live in mushroom huts. They're biggest asset to the ThunderCats is their plentiful food supply in the form of candy fruit, etc. Also, the little buggers are smart. Being among the 'Cats first allies on Third Earth, they helped the ThunderCats complete construction of Cats Lair in record time.
Other Information
RobearBill is their leader. The Berbils originally hail from the planet Robear. Their first big episode was, appropriately enough,
"Berbils".
Berserkers +
Alliance
Evil (Third Earther)
Description
A group of rogue Pirates who think "unie-corns" are plum tasty, and that Snarf is an unnatural freak. On that latter opinion, I can agree with them ::snicker:: Otherwise, these thrice-repeating guys get on my last nerve.
Other Information
First showed up in
"Terror of Hammerhand" and also played a major role in the
"ThunderCats HO!" series. Hammerhand is their leader (see his entry for more info on him). And do note how his mechanical hand up and switches sides between appearances!

Half shark, half crustacean, this critter lies in wait to chomp anyone or anything trying to cross the River of Despair.

"The Astral Prison".

Brutemen +
Alliance
? (Third Earther)
Description
Though possessing physical strength, these naturally gentle and simple race of creatures fell prey to the Mutants and were enslaved. They helped build Castle Plun-Darr while under Mutant rule until the ThunderCats liberated them.
Later on, they also help build the Luna-Taks' Sky Tomb fortress.
However in Mumm-Ra Lives Part II where this takes place, it is proven that the brutemen are in fact capable of evil and are no harmless drones.*
Other Information
Apparently, they have no formal language. They grunt a lot, though. The brutes were the slaves of
"Slaves of Castle Plun-Darr".
Bushy +
Alliance
Good (Third Earth Critter)
Description
A pet of Willa's, this hairy arachnid is able to spin webs tougher than steel. Bushy is an "it", and will throw a mini-spider fit if you refer to it as "he" or "she".
Other Information
Helped Willa and Lion-O scale Castle Plun-Darr in
"The Fireballs of Plun-Darr" and scared the bejeezus outta Panthro at the end of that episode.

C
Captain Bragg +
Alliance
That depends...
Description
This fellow is a rather infamous character, for he owns and operates the Circus Train - appearing first in the same-named
episode of ill-repute - and is a bounty hunter that comes off like a con artist. Yeah.
Later, he is charged with keeping the Luna-Taks and Mutants imprisoned on Way Out Back, and can't even do that right, either.
His sidekick is a crow named Crownan, who waxes very Marx-esque. If only he had a cigar.
Other Information
Uh...kill him before he breeds?
Captain Cracker +
Alliance
Evil (Space Pirate)
Description

Chilla +
Alliance
Evil (Lunataks)
Description
Chilla is one cold bitch. Literally. Piss her off and she'll give you the cold shoulder among other frozen extremities. Yikes! Oddly, she can also shoot flames....er, don't ask. It boggles my mind as it is.
Other Information
Hailing from the Moons of Plundarr, Chilla begrudgingly follows Luna's screeching orders. She pilots a vehicle called the Ice Runner.
Claud-Us + [old]
Claud-Us + [young]
Alliance
Good (ThunderCats)
Description
Claud-Us was the former Lord of the ThunderCats and Lion-O's father. He was blinded in the wars with the Mutants, and entrusted his advisor, Jaga, with the Sword of Omens.
Other Information
We first learn about Claud-Us in the original episode, "Return to Thundera". Spelling of his name varies throughout the fandom (hell, I've probably spelled it fifty ways from Sunday elsewhere on this site before I knew better), but the script I have of the aforementioned episode spells it as it is in this entry.

Driller +
Alliance

Other Information
Mumm-Ra first hired this fellow to kidnap Panthro in "Spitting Image". Driller has also worked for the Mutants and was a member of General Jackalman's army.
Dirge +
Alliance
Evil (The Demolisher's Sidekick)
Description
If Lion-O has to put up with Snarf, then this is what silly sidekicks are like for evil guys - in other words annoying, drum rolling armadillo-like critters. Ugh. You know it's bad when even Snarf gets sick of this guy!
Other Information
"The Demolisher" was his only episodic appearance.
Dr. Dometone +
Alliance
Good (Third Earther)

He's keeper of the Great Oceanic Plug, which means he's in charge of an underwater facility that keeps a giant hole in the ocean floor plugged. I know, it's weird as hell.

L
Lion-O +
Alliance
Good (ThunderCats)
Description
Lion-O is the wielder of the mystic Sword of Omens, source of the ThunderCats' power. He also carries a claw shield which can eject a claw line or a smoke screen. Lion-O has power over all cats, as well.
He was only 12 years old when he fled his dying home planet with the other nobles. But somehow, he aged much more than the others while in a Suspension Capsule on the journey to Third Earth, and grew physically to adulthood by the time they landed.
Lion-O also had to prove worthy to lead the 'Cats in a series of Trials, even though he was already the hereditary Lord.
Other Information
Lion-O appears in all 130 episodes of the series. And he's shirtless in one of them, mwahahaha!
Living Ooze +
Alliance
Evil (Creature of Third Earth)
Description
The Living Ooze is exactly as its named -- a living blob of blech that attacks all foolish enough to get near it -- think of a more viscous Jaba the Hut, people. The only thing that can fend off this destructive sea of ooze is an ancient formula called "soap". All I can say is if soap is a foreign concept to "modern" Third Earthers, may ye always be upwind of 'em.
Other Information
The Living Ooze wasn't featured in many eps...the first of which was "Mandora: Evil Chaser". Yes, this means you can blame Overgard for this, too.
Luna +
Alliance
Evil (Lunataks)
Description
Luna may be tiny, but her big mouth makes up for that. Armed with a riding crop and a bad attitude, she bosses around the other Luna-Taks with ease.
Other Information
Has a voice more annoying than a hundred Snarves singing a hallelujah chorus. Kill me now.
Luna-Taks +
Alliance
Evil
Description
Collective name given to the season two crop of new "bad guys". They're smarter and more powerful than the Mutants, and have attitudes to match. There are 6 Lunies in all: Aluro, Luna and her trusty companion Amok, Chilla, Tug-Mug, and Red-Eye. Individual info on them can be found by searching out their names here.
Upon finally seeing a few second season scripts, the official word is the spelling is 'Luna-Taks'. Many fans just short-hand it to 'Lunies' anyway.
Other Information
The Lunatacs of Plun-Darr make their debut (if only by name) in Mumm-Ra Lives Part I. In
Lynx-O's words, they were raiders from the moons of Plun-Darr before his time.
The Lunatacs appear and are properly introduced (by name) in Mumm-Ra Lives Part II; TugMug, the tubby cybord,
Red-Eye the bug-eyed freak, Aluro, the suave mind bender, Chilla, the ice queen, and Luna the
screeching leader on a 24/7 PMS routine atop Amuck, the slow steed, comprise the gruesome fivesome.
They're here to kick ass and take names and they answer to no one.*
Lynx-O +
Alliance
Good (ThunderCats)
Description
Also among the newer ThunderCats, Lynx-O was blinded while trying to escape the dying Thundera. Now he uses a braille board to gain the sensory information lost from his lack of sight. His hearing is kick arse as well. He's also looked up to for the knowledge and wisdom his advanced age imparts. His only true "weapon" is a light disc on his wrist.
Other Information
In Mumm-Ra Lives Part I, Lynx-O also suggests the 'Cats build him a Braille Board, which would allow him to interpret the
information his acute sense of touch can gather off any object to an understandable form. Yeah,
he's weird like that...
Panthro and Tygra did create the Braille Board for Lynx-O after all in Mumm-Ra Lives Part II and we see it here for the first
time. How exciting...*
In "Side Swipe", I believe it was, Lynx-O's braille board was revealed to be only a figment of his mind's creation...wtf??? Someone, do a crack raid on the writers' staff meetings -- sheesh!
Also, in "Touch of Amortus", he and Cheetara seemed to link up psychically.

M
Mad Bubbler
Alliance
Evil (Third Earth)
Description
A froggish looking fellow who had a reputation for causing those that go into a rich Thundrillium mine near hook mountain to never return.

She's equiped with a boomerang that disables bad guys, especially the kind with electronic components.

Ma-Mutt +
Alliance
Evil
Description
Mumm-Ra's putrid pet dog, Ma-Mutt appeared in the latter part of the series. He could fetch things for his master, especially if he morphed into a bat-like dog hybrid. Mumm-Ra also employed Ma-Mutt to take alternate forms, such as Snarf, to fool the ThunderCats.
Other Information
Mumm-Ra actually admitted he loves Ma-Mutt in one episode, "Ma-Mutt's Confusion". Yikes.

Mongor +
Alliance
Evil (Third Earther)
Description
Mongor was a fear-mongoring goat dude that terrorized Third Earth ages ago, and was set free to wreak more havoc thanks to the curious Thunderkittens who discovered his tomb. He fed off the fear of his victims, and grew larger and stronger as he defeated the ThunderCats one by one. That is until Lion-O was told of the secret to defeating him. Of course.
Other Information
His one and only appearance was in "Mongor".

Mumm-Ra +(decayed)
Mumm-Ra +(everliving)
Alliance
Evil (ASOE)
Description
Mumm-Ra, the ancient Devil Priest of Third Earth, is a mummified corpse to be reckoned with. Thanks to the ASOE, he possesses mystical, magical powers that enable him to transform into a hulking "ever-living" form [using the encantation, "Ancient Spirits of Evil, transform this decayed form to Mumm-Ra, the Everliving!"]. In this form, he's quite powerful and dangerous. Catch is, he can only stay that way for a short time before he must regenerate his powers by resting in his sarcophogus.
Powers include:
Magical powers he can weild to transform himself, cast spells, shapeshift, shoot powerful beams from his fingertips not to mention spying on people via his magic cauldron.
Weaknesses include:
He can only maintain in his most powerful form as the Everliving for a short time before he has to return to his Pyramid to regenerate his strength.
Also, if he sees his reflection, he's so horrified by his own evil that it cripples his efforts and the battle is essentially over...at least this is true for roughly half the series.
Other Information
Mumm-Ra first shows his evil face in "Unholy Alliance". He spies on the 'Cats via his bubbling cauldron, which is how he hatches many of his schemes.
As of his reinstatement as a paragon force of evil in Mumm-Ra Lives Part V, Mumm-Ra has been granted immunity to the effects
of his reflection by the ASOE. Big thanks to Mr. Starr for killing that lame plot exit strategy!*
Mumm-Rana +(decayed)
Mumm-Rana +(ever-good)
Alliance
Good (Third Earther)
Description
Mumm-Rana is the polar opposite of Mumm-Ra, even living in a identical pyramid to Mumm-Ra's -- except hers is white. She's an undead mummy and harkens out to the Ancient Spirits of Goodness for her powers.
Other Information
She had a large role in "Mumm-Rana" and "Mumm-Rana's Belt". Go figure.
Mutants +
Alliance
Usually Evil (Plundarrian)
Description
Mutant is the all-encompassing term for the humanoid hybrids that hail from the planet Plundarr. Those we see in the cartoon are greedy and power mad and covet the power within the Eye of Thundera.
Other Information
We never do get to see Plundarr, though Jackalman describes it briefly in "Unholy Alliance". As for the Mutants themselves, they're the ThunderCats' main nemesis along with Mumm-Ra, until mid-way through the series. That's when the Lunataks come into play...

Appeared in "Pumm-Ra". Duh.

Alliance
Evil (Lunataks)

Red-Eye has some cool vision capabilities and can even see Tygra while tiggie's invisible. He's also got discs which he can fire at an enemy. He's like the Pumyra of the Lunies; he wasn't featured a lot, and not much else is known about him.

Snarf +
Alliance
Good (ThunderCats)

His species have served ThunderCat nobility for generations, and Snarf is no exception. Often referred to as Lion-O's nursemaid, he was Lion-O's nanny more or less when the future Lord was but a cub.
Now that Lion-O's grown, it's hard for Snarf to let go of old habits and so he still worries and frets for Lion-O's safety. Snarf also takes care of the cleaning and cooking duties in the Lair.
Other Information
His real name is Osbert, but he hates being addressed that way.
He had a big role in a few eps, including "Snarf Takes up the Challenge", "Hair of the Dog" and "Bracelet of Power". In "Mad Bubbler", it's learned snarves are supposedly incapable of evil.
Snarfer +
Alliance
Good (ThunderCats)

Tabbuts +
Alliance
Unclear (Third Earther)
Description
A swine-like breed of Third Earthling, Tabbuts are known as money grubbers. Though not clearly allied with either good or evil, the fact that many tend to be greedy makes them fall in that grey area.
Few are mentioned by name, but one was called 'Pinch Penny' (ha ha) and the official synopsis from the Morals book says in "Thunder-Cutter", the Tabbut Mumm-Ra disguised as the Ninja was supposedly named "Gumla".
Other Information
Lion-O once disguised himself as a Tabbut to trick the Mutants...how the tall and burly lion passed as a short pig is beyond me. Maybe Mutants are that stupid afterall.

Crass and rude, Tugsie loves nothing better than a good, rowdy fight (and likely, a good stiff drink). He's like the punk of the Lunies. Hails from the Moon of Plundarr which has some wicked-strong gravity -- thus his weapon, the gravity carbine.

Tygra is next in line to become Lord of the ThunderCats should Lion-O's stupidity get him killed -- or so we can assume from "All that Glitters". Also, he's head of the Thundercats' council, meaning if he got feisty, he could tell Lion-O to just shut the hell up already in a council meeting. Mwahahhahaha!

Good (Third Earther)
Description
Though their initial meeting with Lion-O wasn't exactly pleasant [ they zapped him with electricity from their fingertips and demanded he read to them ] they did prove they have good hearts when later they helped him rescue the Thunderkittens from a molten fate.
Their story is that they were driven underground long ago by book fearing oppressors. Their eyes became too weak to read their precious books due to years of living in dimly lit caves (thus, the bulging bug eyes). Because their eyes can't bear bright light anymore, they are more or less doomed to dwell in underground caves forever.
