UK Issued Star ComicsI will be scanning in my issues whenever I have time for you to download in pdf format, in the future. For now, almost everything in this grouping is at least accounted for in some capacity. If you have issue 25 and have access to a scanner, feel free to email me the pics (generally, I'm happy with the cover and one or two interior scans - fact files and posters are great to have, for example), publishing/author information, and a summary of the issue. I'll be happy to give you credit, of course, complete with links back to your site if you have one. Thanks! #26 SNARF TAKES UP THE CHALLENGE PART 2 Issued 12 September 1987 Written by Tom DeFalco. Art by Delbo, Severin Special thanks to Spaced Angel for the scans and information on this issue. This is the second part of the comic adaptation for the episode of the same name. Please see the Fan Review episode guide for more info on that episode. #27 SAFARI JO Issued 19 September 1987 Written by Stephen Perry. Art by Colon, Severin This issue covers the first half of the episode Safari Joe (though, for whatever reason, the comic version drops the 'e' in Joe's name) and follows the screenplay dialogue almost verbatim. #28 SAFARI JO Issued 26 September 1987 Written by Stephen Perry. Art by Colon, Severin The conclusion of the previous issue, it again follows the series episode Safari Joe to the letter. #29 THE HEART OF XURDIMUR Issued 3 October 1987 Written by Ian Rimmer. Art by Hill, Place This one seems to be an original tale. It involves a recurring dream Lion-O keeps having of dangerous corridors that lead to a crystal of pure Thundrillium. Finally, he decides to act on the dream, charging off in the middle of the night alone to find this place and the crystal that can power the ThunderCats' home and vehicles for years to come. Jaga briefly appears to warn Lion-O that dreams can turn into nightmares, but the young Lord presses on. After some close calls in the corridors, he manages to reach the chamber containing the crystal. Problem is once he removed the crystal, a deluge began to spill forth from behind large wooden doors. He does get the doors shut and uses the Sword of Omens to hold them that way. Now he's faced with the dilemma on whether to leave the crystal or the Sword - it's clear he can't take both. Or can he? As mysterious and hollowed looking men close in on him, Lion-O picks up one of their spears and notices its head is shaped just like the coveted crystal. He uses the head of the spear to take the crystal's place on the pedestal and all seems well; he now has the Sword *and* the crystal and is ready to fight for both. But the sub-men, as their called, explain that the crystal drew them all there via their dreams and though they were among the few who survived trying to take it, they were doomed to stay there. But if Lion-O were to leave with it, they would perish. Taking the compassionate route, Lion-O replaces the crystal just as the arrow head replacement cracks under pressure. The lesson? By his kind act, he saved all their lives from watery doom. Afterward, Lion-O heads back to the Lair and looks forward to some sleep, but just as he settles in, Snarf wakes him with the promise of a busy day ahead. #30 WORLD IN CHAOS: JUDGMENT DAY PT 1 Issued 10 October 1987 Written by Simon Furman and Ian Rimmer. Art by Gascoine, Harwood Special thanks to Spaced Angel for the scans and information on this issue. Mumm-ra intends to destroy Third Earth and from its ashes will rise Fourth Earth, of which he will be supreme ruler. The planet begins to tear itself apart and the Thundercats have no idea what is happening until Jaga appears and tells Lion-O of Mumm-ra's plan. The solution is not simple - the Thundercats have to create a map of Third Earth to replace the one being destroyed by Mumm-ra and Jaga will psychically bond the individual maps into one mystic whole to save the planet. The Thundercats head off in different directions, wondering if they will ever see each other again. Panthro, Snarf and Wilykit find themselves at the Bridge of Light, which seems to be fading away. A unicorn tells Panthro the reason why this has happened - the diamonds used to give the bridge its light were lost in an earth tremor. They try to cross what is left of the bridge, only for the ThunderTank to get stuck halfway across. Getting the others to safety, Panthro loses his balance and falls into the River of Despair. The current is about to pull him under when he is pulled out by a Rockman, who has already captured Wilykit and Snarf. Issue featured: Part One of a map of Third Earth, special fold-out cover. #31 WORLD IN CHAOS: JUDGMENT DAY PT 2 Issued 17 October 1987 Written by Simon Furman and Ian Rimmer. The Rockmen have Panthro tied down and it turns out they are the exiled warriors from Issue 1 & 2 who kidnapped Willa. Now they want revenge. Before they can take it, Wilykit makes a nuisance of himself and the Rockmen release him and Snarf, claiming they will hunt them down. The pair hold them off with improvised weapons, but they only escape when one of the inhabitants of the place, for this is the Forest of Giant Insects, attacks the Rockmen. Just when they thought they were safe, an army of Rockmen appear, led by Panthro. It seems he freed himself and alerted the leader of the Rockmen to the exiles' plan. The Rockmen help the Thundercats complete their portion of the map, leaving them with the hope that the others are equally successful before Third Earth is destroyed. A down draft is giving him terrible issues, and ends up being sucked into the cave of the vortex. King Hanuman, which is the name this book asigns Snowman, insists Cheetara serve him. He wants her to fight Vultureman, who apparently likes to fly by Hook Mountain (and no, not in his ship but he actually *flies* by himself in these books) and beat snowmen about the head. Sounds like a fun game. Cheetara is tempted to help him given he promised to save Tygra from the Vortex if she did, but she doesn't agree with attacking Vultureman first. But soon he attacks the castle again and she has no choice but to confront him. #33 WORLD IN CHAOS: FRIEND OR FOE PT 4 Issued 31 October 1987 Written by Simon Furman and Steve Alan. In this adventure, the Mutants are sure Mumm-Ra is weak enough to defeat. They plan to destroy him and rule "Fourth" Earth after Third Earth dies. Kit and Lion-O are out doing their part to make sure 3rd Earth doesn't die by finishing their part of the planet's map. They happen to be mapping the area near Mumm-Ra's realm, which is also where the Mutants are lurking. Kit and Willa, who is also there, want to continue with the map but Lion-O insists on seeing what the Mutants are up to. Mumm-Ra uses his power to reveal the Thundercats' presense to the Mutants in the hope they'll delay their attack on him and go for the 'cats instead. This will buy him time enough to get energized for a battle. The Mutants took the bait and attack, managing to grab WilyKit. Lion-O then has no choice but to do as Slithe commands, which is to go into the Pyramid and face Mumm-Ra w/o the Sword of Omens. Lion-O has heard that Mumm-Ra is supposedly very weak and figures disposing of him will be easy - until he arrives to be faced with a larger than life Mumm-Ra. #35 WORLD IN CHAOS: DOOMSDAY PT 2 Issued 14 November 1987 Written by Simon Furman. Art by Gascoine, Harwood. Lion-O is losing his fight with Mumm-Ra and urges Slithe to hand over the Sword. Instead of giving it to Lion-O, Slithe simply runs away, leaving the Sword behind. Kit is too dazed to help, but luckily Willa shows up to help. They soon discover the big Mumm-Ra was an elaborate fake and set off to find the real Mumm-Ra hoping he is still weak. Kit reminds Lion-O that they have to finish their map before sun down or Third Earth is no more. But Lion-O seeks Mumm-Ra anyway, finally finding him in the field of daggers. He comes to his senses in time to let Mumm-Ra get away in favor of finishing the map, which they do just in time. Jaga is charged with guarding the map forevermore. #36 BEST OF ENEMIES Issued 21 November 1987 Written by Ian Rimmer. Art by Hopgood, Hine Panthro and Monkian square off, but both end up with injuries and the ThunderTank is inoperable and useless. So both have to work together to survive the trek back home on foot. Monkian's Skycutter, though not skyworthy, is used as a raft to sail down the River of Dispair. Each has to save one another from peril, especially when faced with a mysterious goop in the water that attacks them. They eventually both make it to dry ground. It seems they're going to part ways when Monkian suddenly makes off with Panthro's nun-chucks. Panthro is angry until he realizes Monkian took them so he could smash a slime tentacle that was going after Panthro. That made them even with two saves each, and Panthro left with a slightly new respect for Muntat-kind.
